Manchester United vs Everton

, KO: 12:30 Apr 8, 2023, Old Trafford
Everton

SEAN DYCHE has restored Everton's fighting spirit but they will also need a bit of class if they want to keep their Premier League revival on track with a shock win over Manchester United at Old Trafford.

It's now four games without defeat for the Toffees after Michael Keane's late screamer salvaged a point against Spurs and brought up two bets for our man Mark.

But only one of those matches was a victory and Dyche's side remain in the thick of a nine-team relegation battle, with only goal difference keeping them out of the drop zone.

Defeat at Old Trafford could easily see them drop back into the bottom three and Everton face a Manchester United buoyed by a midweek win over Brentford that kept them on track for a top-four finish.

Erik ten Hag's side had drawn three successive blanks in the Premier League prior to that clash with the Bees but main man Marcus Rashford got them back on track as Man United jumped back above Tottenham.

The Red Devils are still chasing a treble as they look to add the FA Cup and Europa League trophy to the League Cup they have already lifted this season. But finishing in the top four is crucial to their finances and they can ill-afford a slip-up against Everton.

How the bookies view it

Manchester United have been strong at home all season so it's no surprise to see them heavy favourites at a best 8/15 with VBet. Everton are as big as 13/2 with Unibet and even the draw pays a healthy 7/2 at SpreadEx.

Recent head to head

Manchester United have bossed this fixture in recent years, losing just two of the last 18 meetings. Everton's record at Old Trafford has been decent of late, drawing on three of their last four visits, but they lost 3-1 in Manchester earlier this season in the FA Cup.

Players to watch

Antony looked lively in Manchester United's midweek win and is always a threat cutting in from the right flank on his left foot. The Brazilian winger is 10/3 at Bet365 for anytime scorer which seems a bit overpriced.

Everton's best hope of a goal probably comes from a set-piece as they're still playing without a recognised striker. Conor Coady scored their goal in that FA Cup loss at Old Trafford but he's now out of the side with Dyche pairing James Tarkowski and Keane at the back. Former Burnley stopper Tarkowski is strong in the air and Bet365 price him at 20/1 for a goal.

Anything else catch the eye?

With Everton lacking punch up front and Manchester United scoring just once in their last four Premier League outings, I'd be surprised if we saw a lot of goals in this one. Betting against BTTS pays 37/40 with BetVictor while under 2.5 goals looks decent at evens with Betway. A United win to nil is also worth a look and that pays 31/20 at BetVictor.

We saw two red cards in Everton's last match as tempers boiled over and backing Toffees players for cards here could pay off. I like the 5/6 on offer at Bet365 for Everton to get the first card while over 2.5 cards for Dyche's side pays 31/20 at Unibet. The same firm also price over 10.5 Toffees fouls at 27/25.
