Malmo are looking to complete the double over RFS when both teams meet in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League qualifier. The visitors have shown some good form lately but face a home team who were superior in the first leg.
Malmo were imperious in the first leg as they eased to a comfortable 4-1 victory in Latvia. They led at the break through efforts from Otto Rosengren and Pontus Jansson, while Sead Haksabanovic and Lasser Johnsen added further goals after the break.
The Swedes have been impressive this season, winning their last six matches across all competitions. Henrik Rydstrom's men will head into this clash off the back of a 3-2 victory at Brommapojkarna in a domestic fixture last weekend.
RFS have been in good form lately, winning nine of their last 10 matches across all competitions, claiming a 6-2 home victory over Tukuma 2020 in a domestic fixture last weekend. Viktors Morozs’ men have also done some good work on their travels, winning their last five away matches in all competitions.
The only blemish for RFS in their recent matches was the first leg home defeat to Malmo. They were no match for the Swedes in that game, with Darko Lemajic’s first-half effort proving a mere consolation.
How the bookies view it: Malmo heavily fancied
The bookies have installed Malmo as overwhelming favourites, with a home win priced at 3/10 with BoyleSports. An unlikely victory for RFS is valued at 7/1 while a draw is set at odds of 4/1.
Head to head: Malmo on top
Malmo have won the two previous matches against RFS, the first of which was a 1-0 victory in a friendly in 2024 before last week's 4-1 triumph.
Players to watch: Eyes on Haksabanovic
Haksabanovic has scored in two of the last three matches across all competitions and could be the one to watch for Malmo on Wednesday. Hugo Bolin was also on target last weekend, and both men can combine to produce over 1.5 goals – valued at 3/10 by BoyleSports.
Lemajic was on target for RFS in the first leg and also netted a hat-trick last weekend. Janis Ikaunieks has also scored in two of his last three appearances and both men can produce over 1.5 goals for the visitors (RFS over 0.5 goals – priced at 6/10).
Probable line-ups:
Erik Botheim remains sidelined with injury and will miss out for Malmo. Haksabanovic was a second-half substitute last weekend and could be handed a start on Wednesday, while Andrej Djuric is set to continue at the back.
Midfielder Yukiyoshi Karashima is currently nursing an injury and is sidelined for RFS. Ikaunieks should maintain his place in midfield while Lemajic is set to lead the line once again.
Malmo: Olsen, Karlsson, Djuric, Rosler, Busanello, Stryger, Rosengren, Johnsen, Sigurdsson, Bolin, Haksabanovic
RFS: Nerugala, Mares, Lipuscek, Velps, Savalnieks, Panic, Ikaunieks, Diedhiou, Wouter, Porsan Clemente, Lemajic
Anything else catch the eye?
