Luton Town vs Swansea City

, KO: 12:15 Mar 13, 2021, Kenilworth Road
Swansea City

After missing the chance to move to second, Swansea City go again on Saturday lunchtime as they travel to Kenilworth Road for an English Championship clash against Luton Town. They can still move up the table with a win and will fancy their chances against a struggling Luton team.

Swansea were held to a 1-1 draw at Blackburn in their previous Championship fixture. They fought back from a goal down with Andre Ayew was once again the hero as he scored a penalty four minutes before the break to salvage a point.

The result meant they missed the chance to go second, although they are now level on points with Watford in the second automatic promotion place. They remain one of the form teams in the Championship having lost just twice in their last 15 matches.

Steve Cooper’s men are also solid away from home with a 2-1 victory at Stoke City and a 2-0 triumph at promotion chasing Barnsley among their recent results on the road.

Luton's midweek match against Rotherham was postponed after the Millers suffered a COVID-19 outbreak. Their last Championship outing was a 3-0 defeat at leaders Swansea.

It was the first defeat in three matches for the Hatters, who have shown some good form in recent weeks. They sit 16th on the table, well above the relegation zone but chasing very little further up the table.

Their home form is likely to be a source of worry for manager Nathan Jones with just one win in their last five matches at Kenilworth Road. Among their results in that run is a 2-0 defeat to promotion chasing Cardiff City while they also lost 2-0 to QPR.

How the bookies view it

The bookies have installed Swansea as the favourites here with an away win valued at 4/3 by Vbet. Luton are outsiders at home with SBK offering 27/11 while a draw is set at odds of 9/4 by BetVictor.

Given Luton’s poor home form, I am tempted to lean towards a win for Swansea.

Head to head

Swansea have seven wins from 12 previous matches while Luton Town have claimed five victories. There have been no draws between both teams.

The Swans claimed a 2-0 victory in the reverse fixture back in December with Andre Ayew getting one of the goals.

Players to watch

James Collins is the top scorer for Luton Town with seven goals this season. Paddy Power has the striker at 13/5 to score anytime while the first goal is priced at 11/2 by bet365.

As always, Swansea will look to top scorer Andre Ayew to provide the spark in attack after scoring five goals in his last four matches. The Ghanaian attacker is valued at 21/20 in the anytime goalscorer market while bet365 is offering 9/2 for the first goal.

Anything else catch the eye?

Neither team has been convincing at the back lately so the goals market could provide some value. Sport Nation is offering 19/20 on both teams to score, over 2.5 goals is priced at 24/19 by SBK while over 3.5 goals is valued at 33/10 by the same firm.

You can also increase the value of your bet with a double as Swansea win and over 2.5 goals is priced at 3/1 by SBK. Andre Ayew’s recent good form means he is backed to score in a Swansea win at 9/2 with Skybet.
