Liverpool continue to steam towards a potential Premier League title after a big victory away at Spurs last weekend.
The Reds will continue their march in a home game at Anfield against Leicester on Boxing Day, December 26th, 2024.
How the bookies view it: Liverpool out-of-sight favourites
Liverpool are as short as 1/10 at bookmakers to snap up three points out of this one. Given the current status of the two teams, this looks like it could be a really long afternoon for the struggling Leicester. The Foxes are huge 22/1 underdogs in the match outright.
Recent head-to-head: Liverpool on a streak against the Foxes
Liverpool have won their last four matches against Leicester in all competitions, including a 3-1 home League Cup win in September.
In the top flight, the Reds are on a four-match winning streak against the Foxes, with a clean sheet in half of those and are unbeaten in their last 12 EPL home games against them.
Leicester have won two of their last five league fixtures against the Reds, but both of those were on home turf. The Foxes have won only one of their last 10 Boxing Day fixtures.
Players to watch: Salah hard to resist right now
Mo Salah is having another spellbinding season. A brace against Spurs on the weekend helped the Reds to a big 6-3 success. Salah is now up to 15 league goals in 16 appearances this season and is the driving force for Liverpool in front of goal.
Only one other Liverpool player has managed to pass three goals for the campaign, and that’s Luis Diaz. The Colombian has a great return of 7 goals in 16 appearances for the Reds this season and like Salah, bagged himself a brace against Spurs. Diaz makes for the best alternative to Salah in the goalscorer markets for value.
Predicted Lineups
Liverpool have Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley definitely out but otherwise can go into Boxing Day action with a strong squad. Leicester will show up at Anfield without any major injury worries, other than long-term absentees Issahaku Fatawu and Ricardo Pereira.
Liverpool: Alisson, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson, Alexander-Arnold, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Salah, Gakpo, Gravenberch, Diaz
Leicester: Ward, Faes, Cody, Kristiansen, Justin, Mavididi, Choudhury, Ayew, Winks, Soumare, Vardy
Anything else catches the eye?
Liverpool have posted a W6 D1 L1 record at Anfield this season. The Reds have scored at least two goals in all home games, except for their 1-0 loss there against Nottingham Forest back in mid-September. They were held to a 2-2 draw by Fulham in their last home game, after going down to 10 men.
The Reds have conceded an average of only 0.63 goals per home game this season. Home and away recently, however, they have shipped at least two goals in four of their last five league fixtures. So there are frailties at the back, but the visiting Leicester will be concerned about their own defensive problems.
The Foxes have conceded an average of 2.75 goals per away game this season, and their road record is a poor W1 D2 L5 return. In their last away game they were hammered 4-0 by Newcastle and then on the weekend suffered a rough 3-0 home loss against bottom-three-side Wolves.
