ONE of the standout fixtures from the latest round of English Premier League matches takes place at Anfield on Monday night as Liverpool entertain Everton.
Having lost three of their last four league games – the most recent of which was a 3-0 whacking at Wolves – the Reds are in dire need of an urgent lift.
That latest setback means Liverpool's top four hopes are hanging by a thread, with Jurgen Klopp's side currently floundering down in 10th place.
The Liverpool chief will therefore be hoping that a visit from Everton and the opportunity to claim Merseyside bragging rights on Monday night could act as the catalyst for a much-needed upward curve.
Everton, meanwhile, felt the full force of the new manager bounce upon Sean Dyche's arrival, as the former Burnley boss steered his new side to a spirited 1-0 win over Premier League pacesetters Arsenal.
While Everton remain in the relegation zone on goal difference, there is renewed optimism at Goodison Park in the Blues battle to beat the drop.
Outright Betting
Liverpool, who have lost just once at Anfield in the Premier League this season, head into this hotly-anticipated showdown as short priced 1/2 (Bet 365) favourites.
September's reverse fixture ended all square but the same outcome here is an unfancied 7/2 (Bet 365) while a Toffees triumph is trading at 11/2 (Betfred).

Liverpool are difficult to trust at such short odds-on prices, so I'm happy to instead side with the 20/23 (Bet 365) on this all-Merseyside affair featuring under 2.75 goals.
Siding with this selection means that we will make profit if there are 0, 1 or 2 goals scored in the match, with a half stakes loss incurred if there are exactly three strikes, and that holds appeal given both sides current predicaments.
Although Everton are residing in the relegation zone at present, matches involving the Toffees have tended to be tight affairs this term, with 14 of their 21 Premier League delivering Under 2.5 Goals.
That sample includes five of Everton's last six top-flight road trips, not to mention unders copped when the pair locked horns across Stanley Park back in September.
Granted, Jurgen Klopp has an array of attacking talent at his disposal, but the Reds have not been firing on all cylinders this season, and that is evidenced by the fact that they have failed to score in each of their last three league games
With that in mind, siding with under 2.75 goals at 20/23 (Bet 365) seems like a sensible option in what could be a cagey contest under the Anfield lights on Monday night.
Whilst this is clearly a speculative punt, I'm also happy to dip into the anytime goalscorer market and have nibble on Everton's Amadou Onana to grab a goal during this dust-up at 14/1 (Bet 365).
The big Belgian's all-action performance in the aforementioned 1-0 victory over Arsenal last weekend earned him rave reviews, and with him likely to be afforded the same licence to roam forward here, he could be worth some loose change to breach Liverpool's brittle backline at a bold price.
Given that Everton are expected to play a more direct style under their new manager, as well as Liverpool's set-piece shortcomings last weekend, I'm also prepared to take it one step further and cheer on Onana to score a header at chunky 50/1 (Bet 365).
