Liverpool vs Arsenal

, KO: 17:30 Nov 20, 2021, Anfield
Arsenal

ARSENAL have turned their season around after a horror start but the acid test of their revival comes when they face free-scoring Liverpool at Anfield.

The knives were out for Mikel Arteta when the Gunners lost three in a row at the start of the Premier League campaign but they have gone 10 games without defeat since then.

Eight of those matches have ended in wins but some cynics have played down the achievement, claiming most of the victories came against sides in the bottom half of the table.

However, Arteta's side crushed Spurs in the North London derby and also defeated Leicester on their last road trip so they have shown they can also turn it on in big games.

Liverpool are a step up in class though with Jurgen Klopp's men looking back to their best this term after a disastrous title defence.

Their unbeaten start to the season ended with a 3-2 loss at West Ham before the international break, a game that bust the coupon of our man Mark, and the Reds have spilled five points in two league games after a home draw with Brighton.

So Klopp will be determined to get back on track with a win over the Gunners as Liverpool bid to keep pace with Chelsea and Manchester City in the title race.

How the bookies view it

Despite their impressive revival, Arsenal are outsiders at 28/5 with VBet for an Anfield win. Liverpool's best price is just 1/2 with William Hill which looks way too short as they have players coming back from international duty in all corners of the globe. Don't rule out the stalemate at 39/10 with Novibet.

Recent head to head

Arsenal triumphed on their last trip to Anfield, winning on penalties after a dreary 0-0 stalemate in the League Cup. But this fixture has been dominated by Liverpool and the Gunners have won just once inside 90 minutes in the last 15 meetings.

Last season's Premier League clashes saw Klopp's side win 3-1 at Anfield then batter Arsenal 3-0 at the Emirates.

Players to watch

Mo Salah has been on fire for Liverpool this season but isn't great value for anytime scorer here at a best 4/5 with BetVictor. So I'm backing Diogo Jota (below) for a goal instead after he broke his duck for the Reds against Arsenal at Anfield last season. The Portuguese is 11/8 with BetVictor to score.

It's hard to look past Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for a Gunners goal as he rises to big occasion. The skipper has netted seven times this season and is 23/10 at SportNation to add to that tally.

Anything else catch the eye?

It's a game that promises goals with Liverpool scoring twice or more in their last 14 matches and the Gunners doing likewise in four of their last five.

The odds on BTTS aren't great at 13/19 with SBK while over 2.5 goals is even shorter at 53/100 with Novibet. But over 1.5 first-half goals is much better at 15/11 with SBK.

Albert Sambi Lokonga has picked up four yellows in 13 appearances for the Gunners and might be worth backing for another card here at 3/1 with Paddy Power.
