LEICESTER CITY and Everton clash in what is arguably their biggest game of the season on Monday night as both sides battle against the drop.
No matter what happens once the weekend dust settles, both clubs will be in the relegation drop zone for this and they are both in serious jeopardy of going down. In Everton's case it would the end of consecutive top flight football since the 1954/55 season and would be catastrophic for a club about to move into a new stadium.
And the bad news for the Toffees is that they have returned to the form that got them into this mess in the first place. The initial bounce they received under Sean Dyche has vansihed and their 4-1 home hammering against Newcastle United was their sixth game without a win which yielded just three points from a possible 18.
They go into this a point behind the Foxes, who have suddenly given themselves hope under Dean Smith. A huge 2-1 win against Wolves last week was their first in ten league games and their late equaliser at Leeds United in midweek was enormously important as well.
And the hosts look to be goung into this with more confidence in what should be a nervy occasion with just four games left for both sides after this.
How the bookies view it
Leicester City are solid favourites across the board here at evens generally although Betfred are sticking their necks out and going 21/20.
Everton can be backed at 14/5 with BetVictor and the draw is 5/2 with bet365.
Recent head to heads
Leicester have already defeated Everton this season at Goodison Park in November. However, Everton have won their last couple of games at the King Power.
Players to watch
Veteran Leicester legend Jamie Vardy ended a 20-game drought with a vital equaliser at Elland Road in midweek. The 36-year-old, who has scored 155 league goals for Leicester, is 5/2 with William Hill to score anytime.
Dwight McNeil scored his second goal in three games with Everton's midweek consolation in midweek. He is a big price at 9/1 with UniBet to score anytime.
Anything else catch the eye?
Leicester have given themselves some hope with some battling performances recently and that attribute appears to have vanished from a deflated Everton side and the hosts can give themsleves a massive lift by winning here.
With games against Liverpool and Newcastle United to come, Leicester simply have to get three points here and they should do it with the backing of a home crowd against a side who have only won once away from home in the league this season.
It's likely to be a close-fought encounter and a goalfest looks unlikely with so much at stake. Leicester have only managed to score over one goal once in their last 12 games and Everton once in their last seven.
Under 2.5 goals is a surprisingly decent price at 10/11 with bet365 given the circumstances and that has to be backed,
