Juventus are aiming to spark an upturn in fortunes as they host Bologna in a Serie A fixture on Sunday. Things have not been particularly smooth for the Turin club, but they are still expected to have too much for Bologna, who are doing even worse.
Juventus are in serious need of a resurgence as they struggle to find their best form this season. They have only claimed two wins from seven Serie A matches so far and are currently eighth on the table.
Things got even lower prior to the international break as they were beaten 1-0 by newly promoted Monza in their last Serie A fixture.
The task for manager Massimiliano Allegri now will be to spark a revival ahead of the World Cup break and make up the ground on their rivals. The good news for Juventus is that they are still unbeaten at home this season with their two wins coming at the Allianz Stadium.
Bologna are doing even worse than Juventus at the moment having claimed just one win from seven matches so far. They are currently two points above the bottom three and although it is still early for relegation fears, a swift upturn in form is needed.
The visitors are also coming off a defeat as they were beaten 1-0 at home by Empoli in their Serie A fixture prior to the international break. They saw more of the possession and created several chances but lacked the cutting edge in front of goal.
One problem for Bologna is a poor record on their travels, they are winless away from home this season. Thiago Motta’s men have lost two of their three away matches so far but played out a 2-2 draw with Spezia in their previous fixture on the road.
How the bookies view it
Despite their struggles this season, Juventus are still considered overwhelming favourites among the bookies at 6/11 with SBK. Bologna are considered outsiders at 6/1 with William Hill while a draw is set at odds of 17/5 by SBK.
Head to head
Juventus have a 36-2 advantage with 10 draws from 48 previous matches with Bologna. The Turin club have also won three of the of the last four fixtures but were held to a 1-1 draw in the most recent meeting at the Allianz Stadium.
Players to watch
Dusan Vlahovic remains the top scorer for Juventus this season with four goals in six appearances and will be the one to watch on Sunday. The Serbian striker scored against Bologna last season and is priced at 21/20 by bet365 to find the net on Sunday.
Marco Arnautovic is surprisingly the leading scorer in Serie A with six goals this season and is worth keeping an eye on for Bologna. The Austrian forward was also on target in last season’s meeting at the Allianz Stadium and is valued at 7/2 by Unibet to get on the score sheet on Sunday.
Anything else catch the eye?
Defending has been one of the problems for Juventus this season and with Bologna also struggling at the back, both teams could be tipped to score at evens with SBK. The Turin club saw over 3.5 goals in their previous home fixture and a repeat is priced at 23/10 by BetVictor while bet365 is offering 10/11 for over 2.5 goals.
Juventus are priced at minimal odds for a straight victory, so a win and over 2.5 goals could be considered at 11/8 with BoyleSports.
