Israel vs Denmark

, KO: 17:00 Mar 25, 2021, Bloomfield Stadium
Denmark

Israel and Denmark kick off the action in Group F of the European World Cup qualifiers with a midweek clash at Bloomfield Stadium. The Israelis take pride in their home form but the Danes have impressed in recent outings and will fancy their chances on Thursday.

Israel's last taste of action was a 1-0 victory over Scotland in the UEFA Nations League back in November. Manor Solomon's effort just before the break proved to be the difference as they beat back a second half onslaught form the Scots to secure the win.

Willi Ruttensteiner’s men have just three wins in their last 14 matches across all competitions. They have looked shaky at the back, keeping just two clean sheets in that run.

While Israel are generally tough to beat on their home patch, some inconsistency has begun to creep in in their home matches. They have claimed just one win in their last three home matches and suffered 2-1 defeats to Czech Republic and Poland.

Denmark ended their UEFA Nations League campaign with a 4-2 defeat in Belgium back in November. Jonas Wind marked his full debut with a goal while Nacer Chadli also put through his own net as the Danes failed to match the quality of the Belgians.

It was the first defeat in seven matches for Denmark, who have shown their quality in recent matches. Among their victories in that run is a 2-0 victory over Sweden while they also triumphed 2-1 over Iceland.

Kasper Hjulmand’s men have also impressed on their travels lately with just one defeat in their last 10 away matches. They can count a 1-0 victory over England at Wembley as part of their scalps in that run.

How the bookies view it

Denmark are considered favourites among the bookies and are priced at 10/11 by Betfred to secure the win on Thursday. A victory for Israel is valued at 18/5 by Unibet while Vbet is offering 27/11 for a draw.

Denmark have a good record on the road and should edge past Israel who have looked off colour at home lately.

Head to head

Denmark have never lost to Israel, winning all four previous matches. The last meeting between both teams was a friendly in 2006 which ended 2-0 in favour of the Danes.

Players to watch

Striker Eran Zahavi is coming into this fixture in good form for Dutch side PSV with five goals in his last five matches. He will be the one to watch for Israel alongside Mu'nas Dabbur who has also impressed lately.

Denmark have plenty of quality in defence with Simon Kjaer, Jannik Vestergaard and Andreas Christensen. They will be hoping to guide the team to a clean sheet at 6/5 with Boyle Sport.

Anything else catch the eye?

Denmark have kept clean sheets in five of their last seven matches and are priced at 9/5 with Paddy Power to earn a win to nil. The Danes can also be backed to score first at 4/6 with BoyleSport while a halftime win is valued at 8/5 by betway.
