INTER MILAN took a huge step into the Champions League Final last week and they will be expected to complete the job in midweek against bitter rivals AC Milan.
The second leg of the sem-final at the San Siro sees Inter have ‘home advantage' but they surely all but completed the job last week with that 2-0 win at the same venue.
An early goal blitz was too much for AC and in truth, it could have been more.
It's been a nightmare week for AC Milan, whose Champions League hopes for next season then took a serious dent when they went down to another 2-0 defeat at Spezia.
After that defeat the players were given a ‘message' by the Ultras at the ground and presumably left in no doubt that a repeat on Tuesday would be unacceptable.
For Inter, they appear to be in a good place at the moment and continued their fine run with a 4-2 home win against Sassuolo.
That made it seven wins in a row in all competitions and they should be going into this second leg brimming with confidence.
How the bookies view it
Inter Milan obviously don't need to win but they are still clear favourites here around the evens mark although there is some 11/10 floating around with 10Bet.
AC Milan are 3/1 to win with bet365 and the draw is 13/5 with Betfred.
Inter are 1/12 to qualify with Coral and AC are 14/1 to qualify with Paddy Power which gives an idea of the size of the task for AC.
Recent head to heads
As stated, Inter won 2-0 in the first leg last week and have also won 1-0 in the league and 2-0 in the Super Cup although AC did win the first Serie A meeting this season 3-2 back in September.
Players to watch
Veteran Bosnian hitman Edin Dzeko may be 37 now, but he showed he could still be a threat when he opened the scoring last week. He is 23/10 to score anytime with UniBet.
Olivier Giroud is no spring chicken either at 36, but he was put on the bench at the weekend with one eye on this. The French striker is 3/1 to score with bet365.
Anything else catch the eye?
It appears these teams are heading in very different directions and there's nothing to suggest Inter won't finish this tie off in style with another win.
They will want to quash this quickly too and they could well do that with another fast start as they managed last week, It won't be good for the neutral who would want this to be a contst, but backing Inter to win half time and full tims at 9/4 with bet365 seems the way ahead here.
