It is the Derby della Madonnina this weekend as Inter Milan host AC Milan in a Serie A fixture on Sunday.
Inter Milan have fully recovered from their early season struggles and head into Sunday’s clash with just one defeat in their last 15 matches across all competitions. They are currently second on the table and are 13 points behind leaders Napoli.
The Nerazzurri have been particularly impressive lately with a 3-0 win over AC Milan in the Italian Super Cup among their recent results. Simone Inzaghi’s men also claimed a 2-1 win at Cremonense in their previous Serie A fixture and edged out Atalanta 1-0 in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday.
Although both teams play at the same venue, Inter Milan are technically the home team on Sunday and have won five of their last six Serie A matches at the San Siro. However, their last fixture in front of their fans was a 1-0 defeat to Empoli.
AC Milan have been out of sorts since the turn of the year with their campaign unravelling fast. Sitting 15 points off the pace, their title defence appears all but over while they have also crashed out of the Coppa Italia and were hammered by Inter Milan in the Super Cup.
The Rossoneri are winless in their last six matches across all competitions, suffering four defeats in that run. Among defeats for Stefano Pioli’s men in that run is a 4-0 Coppa Italia thrashing at the hands of Lazio while they were also beaten 5-2 at home by Sassuolo in their previous Serie A fixture.
One of the problems for AC Milan is a lack of discipline at the back as evidenced by the nine goals conceded in their last two matches. In addition to their defensive frailties, they have also struggled in attack lately with the likes of Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud looking out of sorts.
How the bookies view it
Inter Milan have the upper hand among the bookies and are priced at evens with bet365 to claim the win. A victory for AC Milan is priced at 29/10 by SBK while Paddy Power is offering odds of 5/2 for a draw.

Inter Milan have a 29-25 advantage with 20 draws from 74 previous matches against Inter Milan. The Rossoneri claimed a 3-2 victory in the reverse fixture back in September but Inter got their revenge with a 3-0 win in the Super Cup.
Players to watch
Lautaro Martinez’s return to form has played a pivotal role in Inter Milan’s resurgence with the striker scoring six times in his last seven matches across all competitions. He has also scored three goals in the last three meetings with AC Milan and is priced 11/5 by bet365 to find the net on Sunday.
While AC Milan have not been at their best lately, Olivier Giroud’s effort last time out against Sassuolo means he could be worth keeping an eye on. The striker was also on target in the reverse fixture and is priced at 11/4 by bet365 to get on the score sheet.
