Hungary are set to take on Sweden in an international friendly at the Puskas Arena on Friday, 6 June in a match between two evenly matched teams.
The hosts come into the match ranked nine places below Sweden in the FIFA rankings, but their recent form could see them slide further down the rankings in the next update.
Sweden, on the other hand, have been impressive of late and they have plenty of goals in their ranks.
How the bookies view it: The hosts go in as favourites
Despite being in worse form than their opponents, Hungary are considered the pre-match favourites with the bookmakers. BoyleSports have priced a home win at 10/11, while a victory for Sweden has been priced at 12/5. The draw, which wouldn't necessarily be a bad result for either team, has been priced at 5/2.
Head to head: Their first clash since 2016
Friday night marks the first time in nine years that these two teams have gone head-to-head, which means that players on both sides will be entering the unknown. Sweden have a far better record in this fixture than their opponents, with seven of the last eight H2Hs going their way.
Players to watch: PL players dominate the talking points
It's impossible to get away from the obvious Premier League talent on display when you look at both of these teams, particularly as Viktor Gyokeres won't be lining up for Sweden this week after pulling out of the squad with an injury.
Hungary's captain is none other than Liverpool midfielder, Dominik Szoboszlai, and he has been considered his nation's best player for several years now despite only being 24-years-0ld. Their next most dangerous player is arguably Milos Kerkez, who has been electrifying down the left flank for Bournemouth this season.
For Sweden, their most dangerous players on Friday night will be Alexander Isak and Anthony Elanga. The former had another stellar season up front for Newcastle, scoring 23 league goals and 27 in all competitions. Elanga, meanwhile, was one of the key driving forces behind Nottingham Forest's rise up the table in 2024/25.
Predicted line-ups
There are no notable absentees in the Hungary ranks, but changes to the starting XI are expected after they lost 6-1 on aggregate to Turkey during the last international break. As mentioned, Viktor Gyokeres' absence is the big news out of the Sweden camp. Could the Sporting Lisbon man have departed the squad on urgent transfer business?
Hungary: Dibusz – Orban, M.Dardai, Szalai – Bolla, Nikitscher, B.Dardai, Kerkez – Gazdag, Szoboszlai – Varga
Sweden: Johansson – Starfelt, Hien, Gudmundsson – Holm, Saletros, Ayari, Sema – Nygren, Elanga – Isak
Anything else catch the eye?
It's difficult to get away from the fact that Hungary have lost their fair share of games recently by a margin of two goals or more while Sweden have been swatting teams away at will. Sweden have scored a total of 17 goals across their last five matches at an average of 3.4 goals per match. Despite that, Sweden to score over 2.5 goals in the match against Hungary has been priced as long as 6/1 by BoyleSports.
