REAL MADRID blew a glorious chance to seize control of La Liga this weekend and they are now relying on help from others as the Spanish top flight reaches its exciting conclusion.
Zinedine Zidane's side knew that a win over fellow title challengers Sevilla would have sent them top of the league because they have a better head-to-head with Atletico Madrid. As it was, they had to rely on an equaliser deep into injury time from Toni Kroos to even rescue a point.
Real must wait until Thursday for their next game by which time Atletico and Barcelona will both have played. They travel to Andalusia to face a Granada side who have enjoyed a decent season, although their Monday night defeat at Real Betis meant they have lost three of their last four games. They have a relaxing mid-table run-in with no danger of relegation and too far off the pace for a European spot.
With Real having a tricky away trip to Athletic Bilbao and a home game against Villarreal to come, they daren't slip up here.
How do bookies view it
Real Madrid are red-hot favourites at 1/2 with Novibet, which isn't too surprising. Granada can be backed at 6/1 with Betfred and the draw is 7/2 with Tonybet.
Recent head to heads
Real won the corresponding fixture 2-0 just before Christmas thanks to goals from Casemiro and Karim Benzema. Real have won the last 11 meetings in a row between the sides which included a frightful 9-1 beating of them in 2015.
Players to watch
Toni Kroos had a goal taken off him on Sunday when his shot was deflected off the heel of Eden Hazard and he provided an assist too. He's 4/1 at bet365 to score anytime.
For Granada, Jorge Molina – who scored the winner in their recent shock win at Barcelona – could be the option at 11/4 with bet365.
Anything else catch the eye?
Despite sitting in a comfortable mid-table position, Granada have the worst defence in the league going into the midweek fixtures and Madrid should be able to add to that.
They are second only to Barcelona for over 2.5 goals in games owing mostly to the number of goals they give away so a goals bet could be the way to go here on Thursday.
Real to win and over 3.5 goals is 13/5 with Paddy Power and that must have a chance.
Granada's recent matches tend to suggest their season is petering out, although that win at Barca should come as a warning to Real.
But with so much at stake, it's hard to see the visitors dropping anything here and with the same theme of goals, an away win and both teams to score at 9/4 with bet365 should have a chance.
