GERMANY will be looking to continue their mini-revival when they welcome Romania in World Cup qualifying on Friday night.
Die Mannschaft got the Hansi Flick era off to a perfect start with a 2-0 win in Liechtenstein before leapfrogging Group J pacesetters Armenia with a 6-0 pasting in Berlin.
Flick and Co then made it three wins on the spin by romping to a win 4-0 over Iceland in Reykjavík last time out.
That trio of triumphs has put Germany in the Group J driving seat and they will look to tighten their grip at the summit of the section when Romania come calling.
Mirel Radoi's men are embroiled in a fiercely competitive scrap for a playoff place, with just two points separating Romania, Armenia and North Macedonia.
The Tricolorii will head to Hamburg in the midst of a three-match unbeaten run but they will face an uphill struggle to extend that sequence against a resurgent German side.
Outright Betting
Unsurprisingly, Germany are red-hot favourites to continue their encouraging start to life under Hansi Flick, with a home win heavily fancied at 1/9 with SBK.
Despite their recent mini undefeated streak, Romania are rank outsiders at a whopping 28/1 with SBK while the draw is also deemed unlikely at 11/1 (SBK) with the same firm.
Betting Angles
There is no value in backing the hosts to win here so I'll dip into the Bet Builder feature and combine Germany to win, under five match goals and over zero Romania cards, a backable 4/5 shot at Bet 365
New boss Hansi Flick brought a real sense of optimism back to the international scene in Germany, but Romania never go down without a fight and they will head into this clash in good spirits.
As already alluded to, Mirel Radoi's side are unbeaten in three games, posting three clean sheets in the process so their resolute rearguard could be capable of keeping this contest competitive.
That said, to maintain their place at the top of the pool, Germany simply have to win so combining a home win with under five match goals looks like a nice way in.
The aforementioned combination has clicked in all but one of Germany's last eight competitive victories and the same punt would have paid out in six of the Romanians last seven defeats across all competitions.
I'll complete the combo with at least one Romania card – the Tricolorii have gone into the book a minimum of once in five of their six Group J assignments to date and it's also worth noting that the above-mentioned Bet Builder banked in the reverse fixture in Bucharest earlier this year.
That train of thought could also see value lie with the even-money (1/1) on offer with PaddyPower for Germany to win, Germany to take the most corners and Romania to receive the most cards.
Hansi Flick's star-studded side should dominate possession for long stages at the Volksparkstadion on Friday night so the above-mentioned featured bet looks like a nice way of trying to squeeze some value out of what should be another success for the revived Germans.
