SOUTHAMPTON have been one of the Premier League's form teams since coming out of lockdown and another win at Goodison would lift them above Everton in the table.
Saints bust more than a few coupons on Sunday when they claimed an impressive 1-0 victory over Manchester City, despite being under the cosh for most of the game.
That made it three wins out of four since the Premier League's resumption, more than justifying the board's decision to hand boss Ralph Hasenhuttl a new, four-year deal when football was in cold storage.
The Austrian looked doomed after a 9-0 thrashing by Leicester back in October but Southampton kept faith with him and it has paid off with another season of top-flight football secured.
A victory at Goodison would even leave them well placed for a top-half finish but it won't be easy against a Toffees side who have also only lost once since returning to action.
That defeat came at Spurs in midweek and Carlo Ancelotti will be looking for a reaction to that disappointing performance as he bids to stop their season fizzling out.
How the bookies view it
With both sides in decent form this is a tough one to call and it's reflected in the odds. Everton are favourites at a best 13/11 with VBet while Southampton are 13/5 with most firms, which may tempt a few punters.
The stalemate is 5/2 with Bet365 and that might be the best option given the teams are pretty evenly matched and home advantage won't count for much behind closed doors.
Recent head to head
Everton have a decent record against Saints of late, losing just one of their last five meetings. They also beat Southampton 2-1 at St Mary's earlier this season (below) with Richarlison hitting the winner 15 minutes from time.
Southampton's record at Goodison is dismal, with their last victory there coming way back in 1997, but they have claimed draws on two of their last three visits.
Players to watch
I tipped Richarlison to net against Leicester in their last home game and the Brazilian delivered. He also scored against Saints earlier this season so I will stick with him again here at 7/4 with 888Sport for anytime scorer.
Danny Ings has been deadly for Southampton all season and is 6/4 with Paddy Power to net his 22nd of the season. But Stuart Armstrong has also been hugely impressive and netted against Norwich after I flagged him up as a threat.
The Scot is 11/2 with Betfair for a goal but may offer better value for an assist, which is 6/1 with William Hill.
Anything else catch the eye?
This is effectively a dead rubber with both sides safe in mid-table so it's hard to predict if they will go through the motions or relax and treat us to a few goals.
But the last seven meetings between Everton and Southampton have all had at least two goals in them so try over 2.5 goals at evens with VBet.
Neither side has been winning a lot of corners in recent games so the 5/4 William Hill are offering on under 9.5 corners appeals.
