EVERTON gave themselves an enormous shot in the arm when they claimed an unlikely point at champions Manchester City on Saturday.
They will be looking to build on that on Tuesday, but they face a Brighton side who are enjoying a sensational season and are one of the best travellers in the league.
Under-pressure Frank Lampard certainly bought himself some much-needed time with a feisty and hard-fought point at the Etihad as they withstood an Erling Haaland barrage and 11 minutes of injury time to hold out for that 1-1 draw.
Brighton went down eventually 4-2 to leaders Arsenal, where they did remarkably well to stay in the game and not fold completely and looked ready to launch an incredible comeback when they thought they had made it 4-3 only for the goal to be disallowed.
But the Seagulls have won half of the eight games they have played on the road and will target this as another one.
Everton have lost three of their last four league games at Goodison Park and they seem to struggle to handle the pressure created by their own fans.
It's so tight in the relegation mix, that any defeat now could inflict a serious setback.
How the bookies view it
Brighton are the favourites in Liverpool and are even odds-on in places, but they can be backed at 15/13 with 10Bet. Everton will see their backers at 13/5 with BetVictor. The draw is 5/2 with Betfred.
Recent head to heads
Last season, Brighton won 3-2 at Goodison Park and Everton won 2-0 at the Amex with away teams on top.
Players to watch
Demarai Gray was the hero for Everton with that second half equaliser at the Etihad on Saturday. It was his fourth goal of the season and he is 9/2 with Paddy Power to score again on Tuesday.
Japanese playmaker Kaoru Mitoma was a huge threat to Arsenal and scored Brighton's opening goal at the weekend. He is 4/1 with bet365 to score again.
Anything else catch the eye?
Everton may have given themselves a real confidence booster, but they could be brought down to earth again by a Brighton side whose energy levels could trouble Everton.
When even Arsenal were hanging on, it gave an indication of how good Brighton were at pressing and harassing them and although they conceded poor goals, they are such a danger on the attack.
They can score more than once here and the 23/20 with BetVictor for them to score two goals or more looks a fair price.
Brighton can dominate possession and that could lead to corners. They managed seven against Arsenal alone wihile Everton have managed a grand total of three in their last two matches against Wolves at home and City away.
Take Brighton -1 on the corners handicap at vens with Paddy Power.
