Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt host Sporting CP in their opening fixture in Group D of the UEFA Champions League.
Frankfurt are into the group stage of the Champions League following a Cinderella run in the Europa League last season. Their first taste of elite European football this term was in the UEFA Super Cup where they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
The Super Cup result was part of a poor early season showing for Eintracht Frankfurt that included a 6-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in their opening fixture in the Bundesliga.
