Djurgarden will look to keep the pressure on Malmo at the top of the Swedish Allsvenskan this Sunday when they take on Hammarby in a crunch match at the Tele2 Arena. Hammarby won't be an easy touch for the hosts as they have won three of their last four matches in the league.
Despite the form of Hammarby, the home side are in the kind of mood at the minute where they fancy themselves against anyone. They are currently on a six-match winning streak in the Swedish top flight and it would be foolish to bet against them this weekend.
How the bookies view it: Three more points for hosts
Unsurprisingly, the bookies have priced Djurgarden as the favourites for this one at 4/5. In truth, their recent form on top of the fact that Hammarby have lost four of their last five away matches makes 4/5 seem generous. Hammarby are priced at 31/10 to win while the draw is 14/5.
Recent head-to-head: Three unbeaten for Hammarby
Something that will give Hammarby some belief coming into this fixture is their recent record against Djurgarden. The visitors are unbeaten in their last three meetings with Djurgarden (two draws and one win). The last time Djurgarden tasted success against Sunday's opponents was in July 2022.
Players to watch: A tale of two forwards
Djurgarden's Deniz Hummet is currently the third-highest goalscorer in the Allsvenskan with six goals in eleven appearances. His best work has come in recent games, though, with the 27-year-old scoring four goals and providing one assist in his last three appearances. Hammarby will almost certainly have a specific game plan set up to stop Hummet.
Viktor Djukanovic was one of the stars of the Allsvenskan last season, scoring 11 goals in a breakthrough campaign for Hammarby. The winger hasn't hit those heights yet this season but he is just 20-year-old so that is perhaps expected. He does, however, have the potential to cause problems for Djurgarden so they will need to be on red alert.
Predicted lineups
Both teams have minor injury concerns for this one but nevertheless, neither side will be at full strength come kick-off on Sunday. Djurgarden are missing Rasmus Schuller while Marcus Danielson is also a doubt. Meanwhile, Hammarby are set to be without Jusef Erabi and Frederik Winther.
Djurgarden: Zetterstrom – Johansson, Tenho, Larsson, Dahl – Bergvall, Sabovic – Wikheim, Nguen, Gulliksen – Hummet
Hammarby: Dovin – Skoglund, Kurtulus, Vagic, Pinas – Karlsson, Takie – Djukanovic, Besara, Toure – Gul
Anything else catch the eye?
Djurgarden's recent six-match winning streak is even more impressive when you consider that their last five matches have been won by a margin of at least two goals. Djurgarden to win with a -1 handicap is priced at 21/10 on Sunday.
Looking at Hammarby's recent matches there is one pattern that sticks out – all nine of their last nine matches have seen over 2.5 goals scored. If you think that pattern will continue this weekend then over 2.5 goals is priced at 3/4.
Going back to Deniz Hummet, if you want to back the Djurgarden striker to make it five goals in four games then he is 8/5 to score anytime.
