DENMARK continue their preparations for Euro 2024 as they host Norway in an international friendly on Saturday. The Danes often do well at home, and given their fine record in this fixture, they should have the upper hand here.
Denmark was impressive during the Euro 2024 qualifiers, winning seven of their 10 matches and finishing top of their group. They have maintained that form in recent times, winning their last two matches, including a 2-1 victory over Sweden on Wednesday.
That victory over Sweden is part of a solid home record for Denmark, who are unbeaten in their last eight matches in front of their fans. Kasper Hjulmand’s men have picked up seven wins in that run.
Norway failed to qualify for Euro 2024 and have struggled to find some consistency in recent times, claiming just two wins from their last six matches. However, one of those wins was a 3-0 victory over Kosovo on Wednesday, with Erling Haaland netting a hat-trick.
The Norwegians will be looking to build on that win over Kosovo but their record on their travels has been erratic lately. Stale Solbakken's men have picked up just two wins from their last six away matches.
How the bookies view it: Danes too strong
Denmark are considered overwhelming favourites among the bookies with a home win priced at 23/20 by bet365. A victory for Sweden is valued at 9/4 while a draw is set at odds of 5/2.
Head to head: Denmark always win
Denmark have a 7-2 advantage with two draws from 11 previous matches against Norway. The last meeting between both teams was a friendly in 2013 which ended 2-1 in favour of the Danes.
Players to watch: Wind to provide spark
Jonas Wind was one of the standout players for Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga last season and will be looking to carry that form into the national team. The forward could be worth keeping an eye on to score anytime on Saturday at 11/5 with bet365.
As always Erling Haaland will be the one to watch for Norway having netted a hat-trick last time out against Kosovo. The striker is priced at 7/5 by bet365 to maintain his scoring run on Saturday.
Probable line-ups
Denmark are likely to make changes to their team with the likes of Jonas Wind and Yussuf Poulsen expected to start in attack. Andreas Christensen and Simon Kjaer are also in line to feature in defence.
Erling Haaland should continue on attack following his hat-trick last time out Dortmund full-back Julian Ryerson sat out the win over Kosovo and could be given a run-out on Saturday.
Denmark: Ronnow, Kjaer, Christensen, Vestergaard, Bah, Hojbjerg, Norgaard, Maehle, Eriksen, Poulsen, Wind
Norway: Nyland, Ryerson, Hanche-Olsen, Ostigard, Wolfe, Thorstvedt, Berge, Strand Larsen, Odegaard, Nusa, Haaland
Anything else catch the eye?
Given the attacking quality on both sides, goals could be expected on Saturday. Over 3.5 goals is priced at 9/4 by bet365, who is also offering 17/20 for over 2.5 goals. Both teams could be backed to score at 4/6.
Denmark have scored in both halves in four of their last five home matches and could be set for a similar outcome at 9/4 with bet365.
