CHELSEA and Manchester United used to be one of THE blockbuster games of the season with the winner likely to go on and be champions.
But the days of Jose Mourinho against Sir Alex Ferguson have been replaced by a seemingly endless race to the bottom between two clubs who have been also-rans this season.
It was perfectly illustrated to varying degrees by their weekend ‘exploits.'
Chelsea somehow couldn't mange to beat a seemingly doomed Burnley who had to play with ten men for 50 minutes and could only draw 2-2 at home.
While United, after being outplayed by a Brentford side who won ten more corners than them, looked like they had stolen the points with an injury time goal….and still couldn't hold on as the hosts equalised at the death.
It's why United are 11 points off the Champions League spots and Chelsea are embarrassingly languishing in 11th place.
Chelsea can at least point to the fact they are unbeaten since the start of February over 90 minutes and United do manage to show the odd glimpse of potential such as beating leaders Liverpool in the FA Cup.
But neither can put together any sort of consistency.
How the bookies view it
Chelsea are odds-on in plenty of places, but they are mostly evens and 10Bet are sticking their necks out and going 21/20.
Manchester United can be backed at 12/5 with bet365 and the draw is 16/5 with William Hill.
Recent head to heads
United defeated Chelsea 2-1 back in December at Old Trafford.
Perhaps surprisingly, Chelsea have a poor recent league record against United. They haven't won a league game in seven years and United are unbeaten in the league for 12 games.
Players to watch
Cole Palmer helped himself to a double against Burnley, but it still wasn't enough for a win. He is 37/20 to score anytime with UniBet.
Mason Mount has had a stop-start career since he joined United and his goal against Brenford may earn him a starting slot against his former club. He is 5/1 to score anytime with bet365.
Anything else catch the eye?
Neither side can be trusted here, especially not the hosts at odds-on in places. They also have a very poor recent record against United.
United showed their Jekyll and Hids side by following up their cup win against Liverpool with a dire display at Brentford. If they play to their best, they should probably win, but they cannot be trusted either and the conclusion is a draw and one with a few goals in it too.
Chelsea's last five games have gone over 3.5 goals at least, but that's odds-on across the board which is very short indeed.
So take an outside stab at both teams to score in both halves at a bumper 6/1 with Paddy Power.
