Burnley have made an impressive start to their EFL Championship campaign and will be looking to keep their title push on track when Preston North End come calling for a Lancashire derby.
The Clarets made a shrewd choice appointing Scott Parker as boss after Vincent Kompany's departure, given he has already steered Fulham and Bournemouth to promotion from the second tier.
After eight games the omens look good for Parker once more, with Burnley sitting second in the table just one point behind leaders Sunderland. The bookies make them second favourites behind Leeds for the crown and Tuesday's 1-0 win over Plymouth made it five games unbeaten for Burnley.
Preston North End find themselves at the other end of the table, but new boss Paul Heckingbottom is starting to put his stamp on the side, with Wednesday's 3-0 win over Watford lifting them out of the bottom three.
Heckingbottom also led them to a shock win over Fulham in the EFL Cup and he will be looking for a derby triumph to move them further clear of trouble.
How the bookies view it: Clarets red-hot favourites
With Burnley in such good form it's no surprise to see them at just 11/20 with Betano for a win at home. Preston North End are 9/2 outsiders and the draw pays 14/5.
Recent head to head: Not much in it
This derby has been pretty keenly contested in recent years, with the last 13 games producing seven Burnley wins, five Preston victories and just one draw. That stalemate came at Deepdale two seasons ago but the last meeting at Turf Moor was a 3-0 stroll for Burnley.
Players to watch: Josh the job
Midfielder Josh Brownhill has been a key man for Burnley this term and already has four goals to his name. He's on the penalties for the Clarets and is 12/5 with Betano for anytime scorer.
Preston's problem has been a lack of goals all season but Mads Frokjaer-Jensen has chipped in with two from midfield. The Dane is 6/1 for another strike at Turf Moor.
Probable line-ups
Burnley still have a long injury list, with Benson Manuel, Nathan Redmond, Mike Tresor, Jordan Beyer, Hannes Delcroix, Aaron Ramsey and Hjalmar Ekdal sidelined.
Milutin Osmajic scored a double for Preston in midweek but could soon be serving a ban after being charged for his alleged bite on Blackburn's Owen Beck. Preston striker Will Keane picked up an injury last weekend against Millwall and looks set to miss out again.
Burnley: Trafford, Esteve, Egan-Riley, Humphreys, Pires, Brownhill, Anthony, Cullen, Mejbri, Koleosho, Foster.
Preston North End: Woodman, Lindsay, Storey, Hughes, Whiteman, McCann, Holmes, Bowler, Frokjaer-Jensen, Thordason, Riis.
Anything else catch the eye?
Lancashire derbies have been feisty so far this season and I cashed in with card bets as Burnley locked horns with Blackburn and Preston took on the Rovers in a clash that saw the Osmajic biting controversy.
Over 52.5 booking points pays a decent 6/4 with Betfred while a fourth red card in these local dust-ups this term pays 100/30. Backing certain players to go in the book also appeals and Preston's Ali McCann is 11/5 at Bet365, while the same firm price Burnley's Hannibal Mejbri at 13/5.
With Heckingbottom's side struggling for goals, betting on a Burnley win to nil could also pay off at 6/4 with Betfred.
