Burnley vs Nottingham Forest

, KO: 15:00 , Turf Moor
Nottingham Forest

Ange Postecoglou has lost both his games since taking the reins at Nottingham Forest so he will be desperate to bank three precious Premier League points from this visit to Burnley.

Few people expected the big Aussie to get much from his debut away to Arsenal and The Betting Desk cashed in as the Gunners eased to a 3-0 win.

But it was a major surprise when Forest blew a 2-0 lead away to Swansea in the EFL Cup, with two stoppage-time goals seeing the Championship side emerge as 3-2 winners.

Burnley also suffered last-gasp heartache in their last outing as Liverpool netted a late penalty to pinch a 1-0 win at Turf Moor.

The defensive solidity that saw Scott Parker's men win promotion last season has been in evidence for their home games in the top flight.

That 1-0 loss to Liverpool followed a 1-0 win over Sunderland and the Clarets will be looking to make Turf Moor a fortress as they bid to stay in the Premier League.

How the bookies view it: Burnley overpriced at 23/10

Despite losing two in a row under Postecoglou, Nottingham Forest are BoyleSports' 6/5 favourites for this one. Burnley look overpriced at 23/10 and the draw pays the same price.

Recent head to head: Clarets on top

Burnley have a good record in this fixture of late and have lost just one of their last nine games with Forest. However, that defeat did come in the last meeting as Chris Wood's double sealed a 2-1 Forest win at Turf Moor in May 2024.

Players to watch: Jaidon in the mood

Jaidon Anthony has handled the step up to the Premier League well and has scored two times already for Burnley this season. He's 11/4 at BoyleSports for anytime scorer in this one.

One of the few positives for Forest in midweek was new signing Igor Jesus netting a double. That could earn the Brazilian a start here and he's 2/1 at BoyleSports for another goal.

Probable line-ups

Burnley are without midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu after his red card against Liverpool. Connor Roberts, Jordan Beyer, Zeki Amdouni and Jacob Bruun Larsen are injury doubts.

Postecoglou is hopeful key defender Murillo will be fit to play for Forest but Nicolas Dominguez and Ola Aina are set to miss out.

Burnley: Dubravka, Walker, Hartman, Esteve, Ekdal, Tchaouna, Anthony, Cullen, Mejbri, Florentino. Foster.

Nottingham Forest: Sels, Williams, Morato, Murillo, Milenkovic, Yates, Hudson-Odoi, Anderson, Gibbs-White, Ndoy, Jesus.

Anything else catch the eye?

With Burnley such a big price for the win, I like the 23/20 on offer at BoyleSports for the Clarets to win either half.

Parker's side haven't won over five corners in any of their games this season and lost 13-1 to Liverpool on the corner count in their last game.

The visitors should be on the front foot as Postecoglou starts to implement his style of play so try the evens on offer at BoyleSports for Nottingham Forest -0.5 in the corner handicap.

Burnley striker Lyle Foster has committed two or more fouls in three of his four league games this term. He's evens at Bet365 for over 1.5 fouls in this one and that looks good based on those stats.
