BOTH Brazil and Switzerland will be bidding to bag back-to-back victories in World Cup Group G when they do battle at Stadium 974 on Monday afternoon.
Pre-tournament favourites Brazil hit the ground running with a well-deserved 2-0 win over Serbia on Thursday, on a night where Tite's men justified my faith in them to overcome a -1 hurdle on the Asian Handicap.
That opening victory sent the Selecao to the summit of the section and they will be keen to strengthen their grip on top spot when they come up against Switzerland.
In fact, another victory for Brazil here could see them book their place in the round of 16 with a game to spare.
As for Switzerland, they also claimed maximum points from their opening pool fixture with Cameroon courtesy of a narrow 1-0 victory, in another game which brought up one of my bets.
Die Nati's exploits at last year's rearranged Euros and their subsequent form in World Cup qualifying clearly demonstrates that they are not a team to be taken lightly at the moment.
Outright Betting
Brazil, who are currently riding a 16-match unbeaten streak in World Cup group play, head into this fixture as short-priced 9/20 (Highbet) favourites.
Switzerland earned a 1-1 draw with Brazil at this stage of the 2018 World Cup but the same outcome here is an unfancied 16/5 (Highbet) while a Swiss success is as big as 111/20 (Highbet).
Betting Angles
Brazil are too short to side with at the aforementioned quote so I'll get creative and merge Brazil to win, under five match goals and over zero Switzerland cards at 20/23 with Bet 365.
After falling short in each of the last four editions of the World Cup, Tite's team have a far more solid look about them this time around and that is evidenced by that fact that they have shipped just one goal across their last seven competitive contests.
What's more, all but one of Brazil's last 18 victories in meaningful matches have featured four goals or fewer, and I suspect that the Selecao will secure another solid if unspectacular win here against what could prove to be a stubborn Switzerland side.
Murat Yakin's men have proven to be a tough nut to crack over a sustained period of time on the international circuit, with two of their four victories this calendar year coming against European powerhouses Portugal and Spain.
That being said, I expect the Swiss to give it a good go only to come up short, and with Brazil expected to dominate possession, I'll round off the Bet Builder with a minimum of one Switzerland card.
The Samba stars have drawn at least one booking from each of their last 34 opponents across all competitions and I fancy that staggering sequence to continue against a Switzerland side that clocked up a couple of cards against Cameroon.
Given that Vinícius Júnior has been in supreme form for both club and country this season, I'll also back the Samba superstar To Score Or Assist at even-money (1/1) with PaddyPower.
The brilliant Brazilian has either notched or assisted on a goal in 15 of his 21 appearances for Real Madrid this term, not to mention he set up Richarlison's stunning second for Brazil against Serbia, so the Evens (PaddyPower) on him to add to that tally here looks enticing.
