Brazil continue their quest for a successful Copa America title defence with a Group A clash against Peru. The Brazilians have steamrolled all in their path in recent times and with Neymar continuing his good form, should be too strong for Peru.
La Selecao began their campaign with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Venezuela in their opening fixture. Marquinhos opened the scoring in the first half while Neymar and Gabriel Barbosa added further goals after the break.
It was a dominant performance from the Brazilians that underlined their status as pre-tournament favourites. The result also extended their winning streak to eight matches, a run stretching back to November 2019.
Manager Tite will be looking to Neymar to provide the spark in attack and the PSG forward has already shown his quality in the opening fixture. However, the backline has been the foundation for their recent good form with seven clean sheets from their last eight matches.
This will be Peru's first taste of action at this year’s Copa America having not featured on match-day one. Their last fixture was a 2-1 victory over Ecuador in the World Cup qualifiers with Christian Cueva and Luis Advincula getting the goals.
It was the first win in nine matches for Peru, who have not been at their best in recent times. They have lost six times in that run, including a 4-2 defeat to the Brazilians in a World Cup qualifying fixture back in October.
The goals have also not been forthcoming for Ricardo Gareca's men in recent times and have failed to score in three of their last four matches.
