BORUSSIA DORTMUND will be hellbent on revenge when they welcome Ajax to their Westfallenstadion in the fourth round of fixtures in the Champions League.
Ajax destroyed Dortmund in Amsterdam two weeks ago in an embarrassingly one-sided 4-0 romp which could even have been worse for the Germans.
But Dortmund are still in pole position to qualify and have bounced back impressively from that mauling in the Netherlands. They've defeated Arminia Bielefeld and Cologne in the Bundesliga and eased past Ingolstadt in the German Cup. They are just a point off Bayern Munich at the top of the league.
And although Ajax carried on where they left off in their next game with a satisfying 5-0 hammering of nearest Eredivisie rivals PSV Eindhoven, they were surprisingly held to a goalless draw at Heracles at the weekend.
But Erik ten Hag's side are in supreme form in the Champions League and have scored 11 goals in the three games so far and will fancy adding to that tally in Germany.
How the bookies view it
The hosts are generally narrow favourites and are 20/13 with SBK which is the best price around and the same firm is top price with the Dutch side too at 17/10.
The draw is 17/10 with Betfred.
Recent head to heads
The clubs have met five teams in Europe and it's 3-2 not for the Dutch after that annihilation in Amsterdam. as can be seen below.
Players to watch
With Dortmund suffering a huge blow with the hip injury of Erling Haaland for several weeks, it's time for Marco Reus to step up. He's 21/10 to net on Wednesday with Paddy Power.
Sebastien Haller came up trumps in this fixture for us a couple of weeks ago and he duly netted the last goal of the evening, He netted against PSV too and is on 13 goals in 14 games this season. There's no reason why he can't do it again at 6/4 with Paddy Power.
Anything else catch the eye?
Ajax have looked incredibly impressive in this to the extent they've been tipped by many to be dark horses to win the Champions League and no wonder.
You'd have fancied them to win anyway because it seems to suit their game when they can counter, but they are facing a Dortmund team without Haaland which severely nullifies the hosts.
They went to Portugal and scored five against Sporting Lisbon, who Dortmund only just beat 1-0 at home.
So the 14/5 for Ajax to net three times or more with Boylesports is far from impossible if they are on their game.
