It's fair to say it took Julian Alvarez a little bit of time to find his best form at Atletico Madrid but the recent signs are very positive for both the 24-year-old and the club.
Atletico spent £81.5m on the Argentinian in the summer but fans have had to remain patient as he's settled into life in Spain. For starters, the tactics he now plays under with Simeone are at odds with everything he learned at Man City under Pep Guardiola, so a bedding-in period was always likely to happen.
He is now starting to understand his teammates more and a connection with Antoine Griezmann is certainly growing. Alvarez has scored four goals and provided one assist in his last three appearances in all competitions and has established himself as the club's number-one dangerman. Atletico Madrid are missing two players for this one with Thomas Lemar and Nahuel Molina both in the treatment room. Several players will come back into the team after being rested in the Copa del Rey. Sevilla are in a similar boat with Tanguy Nianzou and Chidera Ejuke their only injured players. Saul Niguez will also miss out as he is on loan at the club from Atletico.
