Atletico Madrid are set to take on Getafe in La Liga on Sunday, 15 December in a huge match at both ends of the table.
Atletico have stormed back into the title race, winning their last ten matches in all competitions and will fancy their chances of making that 11 on Sunday.
Their opponents this weekend, Getafe, look likely to be involved in the relegation battle this season after a more promising 23/24. They are currently three points clear of Espanyol in 18th.
How the bookies view it: The hosts go in as heavy favourites
Atletico Madrid are the heavy favourites for this one which is no surprise considering their recent form and the fact they are playing a far inferior side. BoyleSports have priced an Atletico win at 4/11 while a victory for Getafe is considered very unlikely at 8/1. The draw, which would be a great result for the visitors, has been priced at 3/1.
Recent head-to-head: Atleti dominance
It wouldn't be a stretch to say that Getafe have been Diego Simeone's favourite opponent during his time at Atletico Madrid manager as he is unbeaten in 25 meetings against them. Getafe's last victory over Atletico Madrid came in November 2011, one month before Simeone took over at the club.
Players to watch: Griez is still the mann
No matter how much money Atletico Madrid spend on players each summer, and they spent a fortune this year, one man continues to be their shining light in an attacking sense and that is none other than Antoine Griezmann.
With Julian Alvarez only just finding his feet at the club and Alexander Sorloth still struggling, Griezmann has stepped up in a big way for the club in recent weeks and that was more evident than ever last weekend when the Frenchman spearheaded a comeback from 3-1 down to beat Sevilla 4-3.
Griezmann grabbed the goal that brought his side back into the match just after the hour mark before rounding off the comeback in the dying minutes. The 33-year-old followed that up with another brace in the week in Atletico's Champions League win over Slovan Bratislava.
He now has seven goals in his last five outings and is the number one reason why Atletico find themselves back in the mix to win La Liga.
Predicted line-ups
Things just seem to keep getting better for Atletico Madrid as the return of Thomas Lemar in the week meant that they now have a complete clean bill of health. The situation isn't quite as bright for Getafe as they are missing three players for this one. Carles Alena and Borja Mayoral are both out due to muscle injuries and Mauro Arambarri is suspended.
Atletico Madrid: Oblak – Llorente, Gimenez, Lenglet, Galan – Simeone, Barrios, De Paul, Gallagher – Griezmann, Alvarez
Getafe: Soria – Iglesias, Dakonam, Alderete, Rico – Nyom, Milla, Patrick, Coba – Uche, Rodriguez
Anything else catch the eye?
Atletico Madrid's seven-goal thriller with Sevilla last weekend was indicative of how much more attacking and open they have been in recent weeks. They have now scored 21 goals across their last five matches in all competitions and are priced at 9/4 with BoyleSports to score over 2.5 goals on Sunday.
