With the title already settled, the battle for Europe takes centre stage this weekend with newly resurgent Atalanta hosting Juventus.
After finding things difficult at the turn of the year, Atalanta appear to have rediscovered their form and are back in the hunt for a top four finish. They have lost just once in their last eight matches and are now up to fifth on the standings.
Atalanta have won their last three Serie A matches and picked up a 3-2 victory over Spezia in their previous fixture. They fought back from a goal down with efforts from Marten de Roon, Davide Zappacosta and Luis Muriel turning things around before a goal from the visitors made for a nervous ending.
The win over Spezia is an extension of Atalanta’s recent good form at Gewiss Stadium having lost just twice in their last eight Serie A home matches. They have claimed five wins in that run with a 3-1 victory over Roma among their results.
Juventus travel to Bergamo off the back of a 2-1 victory over Lecce in their previous Serie A fixture. All the goals were scored in the first half with Leandro Paredes and Dusan Vlahovic on target for the Turin club.
That was a much-needed result for Juventus who had failed to win any of their previous five matches across all competitions. The victory keeps them second on the table, although the likes of Inter Milan, Atalanta and Roma are breathing down their neck.
A major problem for Juventus in recent weeks is a poor record on their travels as they are currently on a five-match winless run away from home. However, they have drawn two of the last three fixtures in that run and were held to a 1-1 scoreline at Bologna in their previous fixture on the road.
How the bookies view it
Atalanta have the upper hand among the bookies with a home win priced at 7/5 by 10bet. A victory for Juventus is valued at 21/10 by bet365, who is also offering odds of 12/5 for a draw.
Head to head
Juventus have a 35-6 advantage with 14 draws from 35 previous matches against Atalanta. However, the last two meetings have ended in draws, including a 3-3 scoreline in the reverse fixture back in January.
Players to watch
Luis Muriel was on target in the win over Spezia last time out and will be keen to go on a run in the final weeks of the season. The striker could be worth keeping an eye om to score anytime at 9/4 by Unibet.
Dusan Vlahovic was back among the goals for Juventus last time out after a lengthy dry spell. The Serbian striker remains the one to watch for the Turin club and is priced at 4/2 by bet365 to find the net on Sunday.
Anything else catch the eye?
It was a six-goal thriller in the reverse fixture and another high-scoring encounter could be on the cards on Sunday. Over 3.5 goals is valued at 3/1 with BetVictor, over 2.5 goals is priced at 11/10 by bet365 while Unibet is offering odds of 5/6 on both teams to score.
There have been second half goals for both teams in the last two meetings and Sunday’s clash could be set for a similar pattern at 5/2 with bet365. The second half can also be tipped to produce more goals at 11/10 with Paddy Power.
