AFTER some good results at the Ryder Cup it was almost another win in the golf at the Dunhill Links Championship.
Both Ace Venturer and I tipped Tommy Fleetwood at 28-1 ew to win at St Andrews and the English golfer finished joint second with Rory McIlroy behind Oliver Wilson.
Fleetwood missed a six-footer at the famous 18th hole to force a play-off and while I was disappointed I couldn't help feel happy for Wilson who has been in the doledrums the past few weeks.
Reading how he didn't even know if he was going to make contact the ball just last week and how he was hitting his driver without a tee just to keep it in play shows just how amazing his victory was.
And well done to world No.1 and Ryder Cup hero McIlroy for giving his rival encouragement during the round as he completed his road back from hell.
Put all sports tips and chat here.
Michael Smith 28/1 EW is a great bet for the Grand Prix. There has been six tournaments since the summer break with Michael being in 3 finals. He is the form player heading into the tournament. Stephen Bunting at 33/1 also tempts me as he has a good draw.
Grand Prix Darts 1st round
One of the best matches of the night sees Gary Anderson take on home favourite Brendan Dolan. The match will be on around 10pm and the crowd will be loud. The short format means trouble for the big boys and Anderson as much as I like him, and he has been one of the form players this season is no value at 2/5.
I mentioned in my ante post preview Dolan beat Anderson 6-2 on Sunday. Brendan Dolan has now won 3 out the last 4 matches and 7 out the 11 matches. He was a finalist here 3 years ago and a semi finalist two years ago, and with the crowd behind him and a recent tour win, and the short format he looks a bit of value at 19/10 Boylesport to send a top seed packing.
In the opening game of the night sees two relatively unknowns face of as Andrew Gilding faces Darren Webster. This is the proverbial 50-50 as you can get evens on both men. Webster has more big stage experience and he played Phil Taylor at the match play in Blackpool, losing 10-4 yet he hammered the power 6-0 on the tour at the weekend. Gilding 1/1 would be my marginal fancy at William Hill, having had a decent weekend himself.
DOLAN TO BEAT ANDERSON 19/10
Good luck if your having a bet
I have already advised the Seahawks to win back to back superbowls at 6/1 & now best price 7/2
I also advised the Colts at 25/1
But i would now add a third & this is because this teams indifferent form matches previous winning years for them
They are hard to predict but are showing signs of getting better but they always keep their best football for the playoffs & i can see them scraping into the playoffs again this year & thats when Manning & co will shine
.to win suoerbowl
NY GIANTS 50/1 e/w hills ladbrokes paddy power
Tips for tonight’s games
Anderson to beat Dolan 2-1 11/5
The scot has been playing great darts since the halfway point of the PL and I don’t think his doubling is an issue these these days but Dolan will have the home crowd behind him and I expect this to be tight with Anderson sneaking it
James Wade to hit more 180s than andy smith 11/10
Wade playing great darts at the minute and although not prolific on the 180s I.can see him hitting more than the pieman, I’m hoping wade hits at least 3 as I don’t see andy equaling or bettering that
Ryan 180, Dolan beat Anderson in a final last night though – does that make a difference to your tip?
Jeremy Chardy to upset Gasquet @ 23/10. (11:30 start)
Chardy was awesome for large parts against anderson last week and has a real chance of getting the better of Gasquet who’s current form is indifferent and may be tuning out of steam at the end of the season. I certainly rate Chardys chances as better than the bookies so I’ll be getting behind him here.
Morning Ad am on it mate, good luck!!!!!!
Yeah fair point mr f, however I think Anderson has played great on the TV stage where Dolan hasn’t so hot of late but has been doing well on floor events. Hey it wouldn’t surprise me if Dolan won but I’ll just side with gary
Justin Pipe to beat Robert Thornton looks a good bet. Pipe has had an excellent weekend where as Thornton has been pretty poor all year. If Thornton doesn’t get the double twenty going in 1st or second time then he will start getting frustrated. Pipe has reached the semi-finals and quarter-finals here past two years so he certainly likes the event.
Pipe 11/10 to beat Thornton. Skybet
As you can see on my post above my money is on Justin Pipe tonight and I’m putting him on my quad. Take Ian White to beat local boy Michael Mansell. Ian White usually does well in the 1st round of TV tournaments and I expect him to win again. James Wade should see off camera shy Andy Smith. Adrian Lewis has had a bit of a break and didn’t participate in the world series in August and will be raring to go tonight. Take him to beat Irish boy Daryl Gurney. There should be some high scoring in that game!
Pipe to beat Thornton
White to beat Mansell
Wade to beat Smith
Lewis to beat Gurney
4/1 Stan James
A market I like on the darts is the 180’s handicap. Tonight will be tough as the format is so short. The 180s flew in beautifully for Anderson in Blackpool in July and Ian White can hit a fair few 180s on his day.
Anderson -1 180
White -1 180
Paddy Power 5/1
Last year I predicted I got 4/4 correst scores on the 2nd night of the Grand Prix. Tonight I’ll again have a bash at this tonight.
WEhite to win 2-0
Wade to win 2-0
Painter to win 2-1
Anderson to win 2-1
74/1 with Boylesports
Chardy was a break up in the first set and a mini break up in the tiebreak but let the lead slip both times. It was the 50/50 match I thought it would be till the end of the first when he lost belief. A disappointing day of tennis do far. I’m happy with my womens outright picks though and hopeful they do the business’s this week. Svitolina winning today was the only real positive as that’s hopefully her toughest match till she plays stosur
Yea Ad had Chardy survived that 1st set he would have had a good chance, but the 1st set was the decisive one.
Can I ask the chief or DeAndre what they think of a Lynch/Seahawks Wincast @ EVS this evening? A lot of pundits picking the Seattle against the spread. The Beast obviously the main threat. Seahawks -13 @ 2/1 looks tempting but it depends if Cousins can sort his game out for the Redskins, or play as bad as he did against the Giants I suppose?
Jordan I’m already on it mate :-)
Haha what you on mate? The wincast or the -13? Seahawks -6.5 & over 45.5 @ 5/2 might be worth a smaller stake you think?
I’m on Seattle -7.0 @ 20/23 & the Even money win cast, still half asleep so clearly didn’t read all the posts right
No worries mate, thanks for the reply!
Wher u get evens for win cast jordsn
WillHill mate.
Cheers
***NFL Seattle @ Washington****
Like Deandre I am on Seattle tonight, the Redskins qb looked shattered last week and down on confidence after his interception throws, tonight he is throwing trying to avoid the legion of Boom I can almost see his hand wobble a bit already. Seattles run Defence is fierce so I doubt Alfred Morris or Roy Helu will get much success forcing Cousins to go ariel which could spell disaster. On the other side of the coin there is no doubt Seattle are not as good on the road however the threat of Lynch coming out of the backfield is immense (lynch is in my fantasy team this week)and if Jennings (Giants RB) can run all over them then I expect Lynch to have a monster…tips
Lynch wincast evens
Harvin anytime 6/4
Seattle (-7)10/11
Lynch over 82.5 yards 10/11
and just for fun after Thursday nights score prediction “Washington 13-31 Seattle”
DeAndre, I’m seeing here that Seattle to score over 31 points is 12/1. These are prices for heavy favourites. What do you think the odds may have been for the Patriots over 31 who were underdogs on their own turf last night? Just curious :)
Phil Taylor -1.5
James Wade
Adrian Lewis
Pays something like 1.35/1
To be honest I’ve never looked in to that market so no idea :-) 12/1 seems to be kinda high for the Seahawks though! Where’s that price from Jordan?
WillHill mate! That’s exactly what I thought. Why I was so curious with NE yesterday. They must have been at least 25/1 if the Seahawks are 12/1.
Ahhhhh My bad! It’s winning margins! D’oh!
That makes a little better sense lol
Haha sorry mate. I was only looking as I saw the chief had a team points overs yesterday but I couldn’t find it. Wish I’d have known the Chargers were going to shut out the jets haha
Tuesday tennis-
Straight sets treble:
Stosur d Eguchi 2-0
Bouchard d Achleitner 2-0
Murray d Gabashvilli 2-0
Pays 6/4
This really should come it without much fuss. Stosur always does well here and has cruised 2-0 in the first round 4 of the last 5 years. Eguchi has lost 2-0 in the first round all three times she’s played here, and to far weaker players. I cannot see her bucking that trend against the two time Osaka champ. Bouchard is just much better than Achleitner who has lost her last three matches 2-0 to much lesser players than the Canadian. Murray, unless he really doesn’t show up, should have no trouble putting his opening match to bed in 2 sets. He’s always done very well in Shanghai and will be switched on with a place at the tour finals up for grabs.
Add Leonardo Mayer to beat Chinese qualifier Di Wu 2-0 for a 3/1 4-fold.
Add Peng to beat Peer 2-0 for a 6/1 5-fold. Peng is playing in her home town and has beaten Peer 2-0 in their last two hard court meetings.
Good luck
Sorry, Bouchard is actually on Tuesday.
I mean Wednesday. Jeeeez
And the fourfold with Mayer added actually pays more like 7/2 which is nice
Andy smith won 3-2 on the 180s :(
Which bookie offers the best odds on that fourfold, Ad?
I think itS still Coral. Since I posted the tip Stosur has been cut from 4/9 to 4/11 though.
Great night of action at the darts, Anderson beat Dolan and now having survived round 1 looks good for a decent run. Gilding beat Webster as advised and he went out to 2/1 so hope some got on that.
I posted a preview last night on the grand prix, and then a first day tip and best bet, the preview has not appeared, yet the day 1 post did. Not sure what happened their it was up last night. Never mind.
In the first round and second round trebles and four folds are fraught with danger. A pound on all the outsiders would have lead to profit tonight, and even more had Gurney not blown it against Adrian Lewis.
Thursday NFL
This seasons Thursday results…
W1 Green Bay 16, Seattle 36
W2 Pittsburgh 6, Baltimore 26
W3 Tampa Bay 14, Atlanta 56
W4 New York 45, Washington 14
W5 Minnesota 10, Green Bay 42
Blowout after blowout as teams simply don’t have the same time to recover injuries, go over the play book etc as they would on a normal week.
So for blowout 6 we have…
Indianapolis @ Houston
Spread currently Colts -2.5 (20/23) WillyHills
Not got a price for any alternate handicaps/spreads yet but when they are priced up I’ll be on -6.5 at the least.
Getting slightly ahead of myself as the Hawks haven’t yet stomped the Skins :-D
KEARSE TO SCORE 5/2 (SKYBET)
Mr F, some of my post are not showing up. I did a Darts preview early yesterday morning that has not shown up, yet day 1 tips did. I posted about the darts tonight, that posted, but my NFL bets not shown up. They have not been awaiting moderation. I posted both within minutes of each other, is this causing the problem?
I thought something was strange with no NFL tips from you yet mate!
thechief, no idea to be honest. Your post saying can’t post is on fine – if I can’t see any that don’t make it I can’t comment on them.
Wilson could end up rushing more yards than Lynch here! Give the Beast the ball haha
Lynch left it late but he got it done!! Wincast and the -7 in! Well done lads!
***NFL UPDATE***
Well done guys we all had same thoughts which makes the best safer, 2 from 4 from me
Lynch wincast -won
seattle -7 won
I feel a bit unlucky with my other 2 bets, Harvin anytime 6/4 lost but he had 3 scores brought back for penalties which in any sport is unlucky
Lynch over 82 yards, he finished with 72 yards yet inexplicibly didnt start the match which surely the extra 10 yards would have been covered if he started the game, bit of profit though to take me into Thursdays games
The fun bet of the night of a score prediction was close but no cigar, my prediction 31-13 actual score 27-17
Well done Jordan, Chief, Deandre and any other winners last night
Hi Thechief -I’ll prefix this by making it clear that this is just a friendly. question and not a criticism. You say it was a great night of action at the darts but follow that up by saying your only proper tip Dolan lost to Anderson. Am I missing something? ( possibly the posts you have mentioned aren’t now showing on this thread?) Cheers
AD, I know. I was referring to the darts matches themselves when I said it was a great night of action.
ah cool, fair play my man. as someone who doesn’t even consider darts a proper sport and can think of few more boring ways to spend an evening than watching it, I had just assumed you were referring to the bets rather than the matches themselves!
Any boxing heads on here?
I fancy Jermain taylor @ 5/2 to go in a 10/1 acca
Soliman is not elite level and is 40 years old, however i have not seen him fight, looking at his record, he hasnt been beaten since 2008 but has not faced the best opposition, he has 10 loses and is 4-5 inches shorter than taylor.
i understand why taylor is the underdog, (he was only in prison recently etc)
but he could EASILY outbox soliman for the win.
any thoughts?
also @ the weekend, lee selby 2/9 and Molina 1/2 (PTS) are pretty much givens.
Both my tips last night didn’t produce unfortunately but hoping for better luck tonight.
Bunting to beat baxter 2-0 1/1
Bunting had took no time to adapt to life in the pdc and has been impressive in the tv tournaments and looks the real deal. Ronnie has been a great player in the past but his best days are behind him, I see bunting winning this with comfort.
Mervyn king to beat wes newton 4/5
Kings is the form player of the two and is lethal on d16. Wes has a tendency to block the double with his first dart due to the angle it goes into the board and merv can punish that
Jamie caven to hit more 180s than peter wright 11/8
Caven is good 180 hitter when flowing and wright has never been a prolific 180s man so 11/8 looks good value here
watching that murray match was hilarious :D
2-0 before the match was 1/5 which was too skinny for me
so went for under 12.5 1/2 cashed out in the 2nd set and got Murray 2-0 for 11/4 when he was 5-4 down
The whole murray show was brilliant – anyone hear what he was saying during the interval swearing about nightclubs, pubs etc ? :D
I didn’t see much of it Mlac, he looked like he was getting massively distracted by anything and everything though!
I got 2/7 on 2-0 murray, I wouldn’t have taken it at 1/5. And not sure i’ll be touching that bet in his next match on today’s evidence.
I’m now just waiting on Mayer to win his second set to bring in the 3/1 fourfold. He is a break up so a small stake on Wu to win this set offers an easy cover for anyone wary of the comeback
I’m way ahead of myself there, sorry. I’d forgotten my 4th leg was Bouchard. I was tossing up between her and Pliskova 2-0 and went with Eugenie in the end. She doesnt play till tomorrow so anyone wanting to cover will have to wait till after shes (hopefully) claimed the first set!
Treble I put up last night won. Gonna try and keep it reasonably simple.
Michael van Gerwen and Simon Whitlock both to win 2-0.
2.06/1
Hya Ad bet a 10 acca have 7 up waiting for 3 fingers x/ed.

Darts day 2
The tournament of shocks didn’t disappoint last night and tonight their could be another in the opening match. Terry Jenkins has years of experience on the big stage reaching the final twice, whilst Huybrechts as never won a game at the Grand Prix. Jenkins as also won 7 of their 9 meetings, so looks a touch of value at 11/10 Betvictor.
The match of the night is between last year runner up Dave Chisnall v Ray Van Barneveld. The winner will be who settles first, and even though Chisnall should enjoy his return to the scene of his first PDC major final, the last time he stood on this stage he was hammered 6-0. He can also be dodgy on his doubles, so if RVB starts getting off on double 18, he can win this.
MVG & Whitlock look like decent bets, so I will take a chance on the William Hill treble that all three win on a tricky night. It is 2/1
JENKINS TO WIN 11/10
WILLIAM HILL SPECIAL 2/1
RVB
MVG
WHITLOCK
Good luck if your having a bet
Missed your Jenkins tip, was still at work chief but well done mate. On your treble.
Bunting 2-0 1/1 WON
King to win WON
Caven to hit most 180s in match LOST
Recouped most of the money from last night. Hoping for a full house tommorow night
Ad – overnight I am on the following 4-fold
Kumkhum
Cirstea
Riske
Keys
Pays about 3.5/1
Not much matches with overs odds up so sticking to win only. Had a 6/1 come up yesterday so sets me up for the week
Good luck Iddy, those are decent picks, you just never know where Cirstea is concerned though. Even Riske and Keys can be risky (watch as everyone wins but Kumkhum now!) I’ll put a couple of quid on those just for solidarity.
My outside tip for Linz, Timea Baczinszky, crashed out in the first round, looking exhausted, and i’m replacing her with Giorgi @ 16/1. Giorgi was awesome today in beating Petkovic 6-1, 6-2, and while she is capable of going from great to terrible quickly, on an indoor hard court she is a real danger to anyone and if she can play close to the level she was at today she has a good draw now and a real chance.
Wednesday Tennis-
Klizan d Ferrer @ 9/4
Klizan has the power to hurt Ferrer, especially when the Spaniard is out of form like he is now. He has lost his last 3 matches, to Simon, Troicki and Granollers, two of whom really haven’t got the power to hurt him. Klizan just beat Nadal, Gulbis and Mayer on his way to the Beijing semis. Ferrer flopped out here last year to Florian Mayer in the second round and I think there’s value to be had in backing him to do the same this time round.
Outsider fun 4-fold –
Lopez d Nadal (Rafa’s appendicitis could play a part here)
Simon d Wawrinka (I give the Frenchman a real chance in this one)
Klizan d Ferrer (see above)
Berdych d Gasquet (okay so Berdych is Favourite, and so he should be)
pays 34/1 w Stan James, around 32 elsewhere
There really isn’t much that makes me want to bet on Wednesday so i’m waiting till Thursday before really hitting the tennis hard again.
Ad, not a real sport?? Not having that!
hmm i dno mate, think i hit the bullseye there!
Barney back in it out of nowhere!
That was class. Treble still on!
Haha, sport or not it’s great to watch and play.
I can believe that. And no doubt especially fun to watch when there’s money on it (if you win that is!)
While I think he may still have enough in the tank to nick this one, Nishikori to lose to Sock tomorrow could be worth a go at 3/1 given the incredible amount of tennis he’s played recently. If doing so go with a bookmaker who pays out if one player retires, as this is always a possibility with Nishikori’s history of fragility.
Wow those last 6 darts from Ritchie were worth losing for!
Ad or anyone else on my overnight 4 fold – 3 are in and so you can cover keys now. From a £10 stake I’m getting 32 cash out total win would be £47 for me.
Keys just win the first set 6-0! It was 4-0 and cash out was £44 so I took it. For a £10 stake not too bad. If u r on 4-fold keys will win bury should cash out for 95% profit.
Gone for another 4-fold to keep interest in morning matches.
Djokovic/ THIEM over 18 games 4/5
Gasquet +3.5 games v Berdych 8/11
Mayer + 5.5 games v Federer 8/11
Erakovic win v Koukalova 8/15
4/fold pays 7.8/1 – smaller stakes though
If u want to go 2 or 3 fold then the above are in reverse order of confidence so start at bottom!
Well done Iddy on your fsome just caught it last night,am on your picks for today Thanks mate
Ad – what is the issue with Rafa not heard anything about his appendices?
I’m in 2 minds on this Lopez bet – thinking of a small single
Good picks Iddy, well done.
Klizan was so close to beating Ferrer, gutted. Served for it at 6-5 in the second, wish id been awake so I couldve cashed out!!
Rafa has appendicitis apparently and has been taking antibiotics. He will have surgery at a later date. Its the only reason you can get 4/11 on nadal, he would normall be shorter but his illness has been well publicised (by nadal looking to get his excuses in early/ put his opponent off no doubt).
I’m not going big on it, I’ve done a double on Sock/Lopez as well as a small single
Sock beats Nishikori 2-0. I didn’t even need the help of a retirement to bring that one in! Good news, though i’m still kicking myself over not being awake to cash out on Klizan (i’d rather be kicking Klizan for failing to serve it out.) Now hopefully Lopez can capitalise on a sub par Rafa (though i am slightly suspicious of Nadal and his excuses.
Really annoyed I missed the Sock tip as I thought Nishi would be down on energy after winning 2 tourneys in 2 weeks.
I might skip Lopez – think it’s another Nadal bluff this.
Might be an idea to perm my new morning 4-fold as a couple of risky ones in there.
Ad -,I was having brekkie when Klizan was serving for match at 6-5. I was going to go with Ferrer at 15-30 at odds of 2-1 as Klizan seemed a bit tight but bottled it. He should have won it as commentators were saying it was a bit of a choke as he was well ahead in match.
that’ll teach me for pressing “snooze” on my alarm continually!
A treble I fancy today is
Bachinger d Haider Maurer
Darcis d Sela
Giorgi d Jabeur
pays 3.6
In the spirit of outsiders i’m also going to put a few quid on Gajdasova to beat Stosur @ 13/5. She is in good form, has beaten her the only two times they’ve met (granted a long time ago, but as big underdog both times) and you just never know with Sam.
Tonight’s darts tips
Kevin painter over 2.5 180s 6/5
This will be a fast pace game and both will be able to get into a rhythm. Painter can hit 3 180s here
Gary Anderson to win 3-0 11/8
Anderson performance was the best of the first round in my opinion and I can see him overpowering mansell in the doubling and scoring stakes here.
Wade v Thornton highest match checkout over 126.5 5/6
Both have an eye for the big checks and I expect this game to go at least 4 sets so I’d expect a big checkout in one of them
Sorry guys looks like the Djokovic and Berdych tips are duffers.
Should have kept it simple and done a double of best 2 of Erakovic/ Mayer.
Still a day of profit though, not posting any more tennis tips for today’s games. Hopefully come back with an overnight tip around 10pm.
I thought about urging caution on those two but as you had them flagged up as the weaker of your selections I figured you knew the risks anyway.
The hardest thing is keeping it simple. When i manage to, it normally ends well. Easier said than done though!
Onwards and upwards. I’ll be on later too Id after having had a look at tomorrows action so look forward to seeing if we are thinking along similar lines.
Ad – I am on your treble!
Just thinking of subbing Darcis though – I’m thinking Mayer +5.5 or De Schepper v Ilhan??
The other 2 I like though
I wouldn’t go for de schepper. mayer could come
In but Fed is more than capable of blowing him away. He always goes straight from New York to shanghai and does well in his first match.
I just backed monaco to beat raonic at 3/1 having seen how the match started and milos blaaady retires at 2-5 down. One more game needed for my bet to pay out. always suspicious of retirements just before a set ends! ;)
Ok will just stick with your original 3 – De Schepper was cos Ilhan had tough 3 setter yesterday v Bellucci, almost 3 hours and De Schep was 1/0 on h2h.
Mayer was thinking that Fed normally usually does 1 break per set these days and not much more. But will stick to original!
Oh and if anyone permed my 2nd 4-fold as I had suggested. 2 of the 3 are in so you should get a small profit if last one lands
I hear you about Illhan maybe being tired, but another way of looking at his last match is that it’s another impressive win in what is a good run of form for him.
that is a fair point re Federer. I don’t want to talk you out of mayer if you like that pick. his first serve stats were silly good yesterday so it’s got a shot definitely.
Lopez has taken the first set v nadal comfortably. My sock/lopez double is now worth healthy cash out amount. Might take to and let the single ride
Didn’t put the Lopez bet on Ad – was 9/4 so kicking myself. Just don’t like betting against Rafa, always kicks u up the backside.
Missing the sock tip as well, can’t believe that one as I had it marked last night but was waiting for handicaps to be priced to see them first.
Gone with Giorgi/ bachinger/ Darcis for later.
Good luck
Cheers mate. Lopez is in so that’s good. Im still gutted about klizan though! if he hadn’t bottled it we’d be looking at 34/1 4- fold there. Oh well. Thats tennis for you.
Giorgi is looking comfortable but Bachinger needs to turn things around. Fingers crossed
Bachinger has let us down – had 5bps in 2nd set but didn’t convert and lost set on TB.
On the positive side I did Mayer in play to win over 7.5 games at 10/11 but cheeky buggers changed it to 8.5games and I accepted it! But cashed out now for 90% profit
Going to put another treble on Darcis/ De Schepper and 1 other.
I went with struff – it’s a Rennes treble and pays 3-1.
RYAN – Top man, thanks for the darts tips
I was on a treble with the Painter 180s and Wadey match over 126check-out tips. I also added Kidminster from the footy. £10 returned £55. Kiddo were 1-0 up and b365 offered me £53 on cash out so took it.
No problem iddy, felt really confident about those 2 tips and proved to be a steal at the prices given. Hoping Anderson gets the job done 3-0 for a full house
Good luck Ryan – I’m not on Anderson tip though.
Wadey match was a cracker. 2 9 darters in it
2 out of 3 again tonight
Some tasty odds on tommorow nights card and will post tips sometime tommorow.
You done well to avoid ando 3-0 iddy, frustrating Anderson won 9 legs in a row after losing first set
