THE focus is on the Champions League on Tuesday while there are nine English Championship matches as well as he likes of Cowdenbeath v Rangers in the Scottish Championship.
I'll put up a separate Champions League betting preview and post top tips after my usual Tuesday morning purchase of the RFO to check stats and facts.
Last month punters cashed in on Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid when they travelled to Anfield … and I'm sure all eyes will be on the Portuguese star again.
Ronaldo goalscoring run is currently 13 games – hitting 21 goals in that spell and netting in every La Liga match this season. He inspired Real to their 3-0 romp at Anfield and I expect a similar sort of result tonight.
Liverpool have only hit the target against Swansea in the Capital One Cup in four matches since and head to the Bernabeu as massive 12-1 underdogs at bet365.
Real are no bigger than 1-4 with McBookie and I'll be backing them minus one at 8-13 with bet365 and possibly minus two at 13-10 as the Spaniards try to wrap up an early last-16 place.
Ronaldo is as short as you will get in the Champions League at 1-2 with Betfred to net at any time but take him at 5-2 with William to score first.
William Hill are biggest at 2-1 with William Hill to bag two or more while the ex-Man Utd man is 7-1 at Betfred to hit a hat-trick.
Elsewhere in the Champions League Arsenal should complete the double over Anderlecht after killing off the Belgians with two late goals in Brussels but they are no bigger than 4-11 .
Atletico Madrid should win in Malmo and Borussia Dortmund are likely to beat Galatasaray after big wins in the reverse fixtures.
Ronaldo to score first is my Super Single in Tuesday's Daily Record but of course the likes of Karim Benzema and James Rodriguez could beat him to the punch.
For the site I've decided to go with English Championship leaders Watford at Birmingham look one of the best bets and are 13-10 at bet365.
New Blues boss Gary Rowett celebrated his appointment with a surprise point at Wolves at the weekend but it's been tougher for the team at St Andrews where they have only won one out of 25 league games since October 1 last season and their latest defeat was an 8-0 doing by Bournemouth who also interest me on Tuesday at Sheffield Wednesday.
Rowett tightened up the defence at Wolves but must be a bit more open at home. Birmingham have gone four without scoring while Watford have netted 12 in six. I've seen the draw tipped and midweek Championship results are less predictable than the weekend but I'm happy to go with Watford.
For the Top Treble I'm starting with Real -1. I accept Liverpool will be defensive and try to keep the score down but if the suggestions are correct that they are playing a weakened side ahead of Saturday's clash with Chelsea I can see them beaing well beaten again.
Real won 3-0 at Anfield and it could have been more so I don't think it's asking to much of them to win by at least two. I'm also staying with Arsenal at home to Anderlecht with those two sides on my European treble.
In fact the English card is so tough I'm adding Atletic Madrid at Malmo to the treble and that's the same as the European one.
There have been a lot of draws in the Championship and I can see a few again tonight. I'm wary of Derby at odds on at home to Huddersfield and believe the visitors who are unbeaten in six could pick up something but best bet could be both to score.
Bournemouth have made us plenty of cash in recent weeks and while they will be well backed at 23-20 with 10bet at off-form Sheffield Wednesday I'm giving them a miss.
Bolton v Cardiff, Brighton v Wigan, Ipswich v Wolves and Leeds v Charlton are all tough to call. I like Blackburn at 19-10 at Millwall and will also consider backing Middlesbrough at 6-4 at home to Norwich.
Swindon v Preston in League One will be on my goals line and in Scotland I like Kris Boyd to score first for Rangers at Cowdenbeath and I expect the Ibrox side to win to nil.

Derby have not been playing well all season if I’m honest. We have had some good away wins at places that we usually gets very little but we are still in the mix.
McClaren has received some stern words from fans in post match phone-ins. The questions being raised being Buxton being dropped straight back in the side in the central defence pairing after 6 straight clean sheets without him and Mascarell in the holding midfield role in front of the back 4 in place of Eustace who has been awesome ( more defence minded than mascarell ).
I am expecting Eustace to be in the side tonight, the team needs him and the fans want it. MacClarens problem is that he’s tinkering with a side that was already winning ( if it aint broke, don’t fix it ) – he’s also trying to rest players because of this run of 6 or 7 games in 20 odd days.
We didn’t deserve anything against Wigan because we were bad, we deserved not to be beaten by Brentford. Our squad is good enough to beat anyone in the league but as yet, we have not hit this vein of form that we were in the middle of this time last year.
Also, Bryson who is one of the best midfielders in the league has not hit form yet. Maybe he needs dropping for a few games.
However, I do see Derby getting back to winning ways at home to Huddersfield tonight. The price of 8/11 I’d say is about right. I have them in a small acca with a few short priced Euro favourites tonight.

Mr F. Birmigham frustrated the hell out of Wolves Saturday and after that 8 nil drubbing, should be patting themselves on the back after holding Wolves to 0-0. Gary Rowett was a good manager at Burton and I can see him turning the ship around with a few points here and there. He’s brought in a few players – a 6ft 6 defender for starters and I don’t think Watford will get the game they think they’ll be getting tonight.
New managers often have a honeymoon period for teams. So I would be cautious of this one.
Nathan, it’s a tough card all round. Not sure where a Birmingham goal will come from an expect Watford to score. There’s not an easy game to pick in the Championship and there aren’t many decent bets over evens in the Champions League so going with Watford. I’d suggest anyone with worries should leave it out and I know the Racing Post have done a write-up and tipped draw.

And as for being sure he’ll get it right, the recent run of day after consecutive day of winners which ran into about two full weeks was tipping at its best, and that was not only getting it right but getting it right day after day. You’d be hard pressed to find that kind of form for free or otherwise, mate. With rumours that we will be resting gerrard and sterling for tonight’s game and recalling lallana and markovic. Also as Danny has mentioned, we have also taken jack Dunn over as well as Trent Alexander (both youth players) we could be playing a team with next to no experience in champions league.
If you can find value in any way for Real Madrid I would take it most definitely, a repeat 3-0 wouldn’t surprise me and if Balotelli was to start alone up front without borini, we are not scoring and its as simple as that.

Normally you would make £9 profit off 2-0 and £8.50 profit off 3-0 but because you are putting £1 on the other outcome also then you just deduct £1 from your winning bet. Obviously if both bets lose then you are £2 out of pocket.

Yesterday I placed £100 on Melbourne collected just under £300 I placed it on arsenal Tula @3 collected around £900 I placed £100 on palace to nil and lost so with my outlay I’m around £400 up this week , my week starts Monday .. I don’t always post tips but this week I will post my bets up then at the end of the week do the math see where I’m at mate .. I’ve had 2 big bookies close my accounts for no reason other than I’ve hammered them , I have a coral on the end of my street but but they have put limits on my bets ( but I sends my mates in ) … Honestly mate I turned 35 on Sunday I gave my job up when I was 30 and my biggest win to date was £33000 on a team to win to nil 7 fold , now after posting this I reckon I’m odds on for egg on my face lol but let’s see what the week brings :wink:

It might be worth pointing out that Nouha Dicko is still out for us and is a major doubt for the Derby game on Saturday. We really missed him with his movement and pace against Blues on Saturday. The only alternatives we have are Mcalinden, Clarke and Sagbo. Neither of these are mobile enough to lead the line on their own and we are looking at Edwards and Sako to fire the goals in for us IMO.
Its a game that could go either way and generally there doesn’t seem to be many draws between the two. Add in the factor that ex Wolves manager McCarthy has took a few ex-Wolves players to Portman Road I’d probably edge towards an Ipswich win.

Quick question a bit random. I’ve heard of online bookies closing your account after a run of wins or one big win? Is this true as they certainly don’t seem to mind when they are taking your money on a losing streak?

Sure it’s true – bookies are businesses, they want to manage their risk like any other business I’m afraid!
Rossco, bookmakers are a business mate and are there to make money. If your account does not generate a profit for them and you are seen to be winning regularly they will restrict you firstly then close the account if need be.
Rossco, bookies are constantly monitoring accounts. In my experience they’re more likely to be concerned about the type of bets you do. If you’re doing short odds, singles, inplay, goals bets on obscure games, that sort of thing, they’ll be looking to close you down. If you do mainly the usual markets and win they’ll put up with you longer.
These 3 sides to score pays around 11/10 or better and in my humble opinion look very reasonable to bring home the bangers;

Mr F it will depend on profitability for them so if the punter was betting on a market where he was going to have little chance of long term losses such as goals they will not want him. By turnover I mean how much they can be seen to make from any account and if you bet £10 per month on a 1/5 bet they will not want you. My cousins wife is an exec with PP and has ‘educated’ me on their way of operating on what I was unaware of!!

It would be a big shock if Arsenal and Real Madrid don’t win tonight and win quite well. Starting with Arsenal I am taking them to score O2.5g at 11/10 various. They scored 2 in the last few minutes in the last meeting and put four past Galatasaray at home, another convincing win looks on tonight.
In the goal scorer market Sanchez will be popular but for me I want to be on Danny Welbeck. He has got five in ten this season including a hat trick in this competition. He is evens at Ladbrokes.
Liverpool face an uphill task in Madrid and finding value in this game is tough. Ronaldo has scored 23 goals in 16 games this season and if he scores two tonight he breaks Raul scoring record. Derby have made 3 changes to their starting line-up, basically, Buxton has been dropped in favour of Shotten ( great news ). Bryson has been dropped in favour of Hughes ( he’s slightly injured )and Jordan Ibe has come in up front instead of Dawkins. He is very strong willed and after him being added late in the league cup game way back against Carlisle and ram-raiding his way through their defence for a late winner, I can see him being on target tonight.
He’s on 12 in all competitions so far and his goalscoring frequency is higher than at this stage last year.

I know this may sting a little and I still have the odd loose change anytime goal scorer bet. But since I have been following raal on the goals market I have never been better at my betting and things like arsenal letting a 3 goal lead slip never effects you when you go on the goals markets. Yes it’s not a 100 percent success rate but nothing is. However you generally are up day after day of you limit the amount of bets and do 1 or 2 goals market bets. I only do raals selections as my main bets at level stakes and the as I said the only bets I ever place using my own gut is loose change stuff . Tonight a nice treble puts us up for the day. For anyone who lost money because of arsenal tonight it’s certainly worth thinking about. Cheers raal education is always appreciated couple that with a bit of discipline and its a golden combination . Good luck all going forward :-)

Bald bloke we have all been there mate. When it always seems to be one bet that lets you down every weekend. It’s a learning curve and chasing big returns may only come off once or twice a year but 4 or 5 and sometimes 6-7 winning days a week on even money bets soon adds up mate.

Bournemouth top of the Championship yet 6 years ago in administration and deducted 10 points in Division 2. They have improved every season since and hopefully can make the Premiership, brilliant achievement.
Just to continue the raal love fest I have to say that the only reason I am still here and making profit is because of what he has preached. Because of him I will never bet on anything but goals ever again, although I’m not even a fan of btts anymore. I also always research any tips by others however tempting they look. For instance I looked at Raals treble tonight and just didn’t fancy Wolves so didn’t follow. I was wrong but would rather be wrong and not have lost any money than go on his reputation rather than my instinct and possibly lose money. 2 or 3 bets maximum a day too, spread across no more than 10% of bank.
These are rules that many advise but none as vociferously as Raal which is why I am in the long line of people who owe him a lemonade or two.

Actually seeing and hearing people changing their betting habits Matt makes any effort worthwhile and especially posts like yours that prove 100% it is no fluke and profit can be regularly made. We are in contact enough along with others to be able to ask, advise or simply tip to each other and the more that see how it can be done the better for every single person. Studying hard and backing goals beats the bookies it is as simple as that.

ok i am here to argue why i think from a mathematical standpoint covering bets is a poor financial strategy….now bare in mind this is a difficult subject to tackle and english isn’t my native language…. Ok lets start….every time you place a bet you put your money subject to the chosen market’s vigorish so statistically the more money you put through the more you stand to lose over time…now the vigorish pre-match at bet365 is about 1,82% to 9% in my personal estimates…..the vigorish in live game rises from 10 % to 17 % percent…so by succumbing to the human urge to secure your money by covering you hurt yourself economically in the long run.We all have covered our bets at times but i strongly recommend not to……except maybe from accumulator bets (but accumulators are a bad strategy also, as is betting your money anyway for 99.9% of the population :P ,so i digress)…………..

Back a team to win at EVS for say £100, they are 1-0 up with 10 minutes remaining, the opposition have had a red card and you can cover the draw @ 10/1, would you rather place £10 on the draw to cover your stake, or leave it and lose £100? If they win, you’ve made 90% profit. It doesn’t always work out that way but if you back goals there’s almost a way to cover every time given the goals you’ve backed are coming in.

ok jordan if it was a one off bet why not but in the long run no……(i am more familiar with decimal odds btw so excuse me if i make any mistakes) 10/1 means the bookie sees this as 1/11 chance for the draw if it was a fair market (0% vigorish) so with a 10% -15 % vigorish live at bet365 the true estimated chance is around (12,23*0,9=11,007 up to 13*0.85=11,05) 1/12,23 up to 1/13 if the bookies are correct .so lets say you put 10units at 1/1 (2.00 decimal odds) 13 consecutive different times and you are in this hypothetical situation…where the team you are backing is winning and the bookies give you the above odds …..you should then expect the draw to come 1/13 times in this case the person who systematically covers in this situation has 12*(10)*2(odds)-13(units to cover each time) + 11*1(the 1/13 time which your cover with 1 unit landed) =227+11=238 units………..now the person who never covers has 12*10*2 =240 units … you can say the difference is minimal but when you cover with much sorter odds which come more often it’s even worse…….Now imagine someone who covers everyday how much he loses both of his time and his money……
