Sassuolo continue their quest to beat the drop as they travel to Fiorentina for a Serie A fixture on Sunday. While Sassuolo have found things difficult, La Viola have been decent lately, particularly at home, and should have the upper hand here.
Fiorentina endured a disappointing week as they crashed out of the Coppa Italia after losing to Atalanta. Holding a 1-0 lead from the first leg, they fell 4-1 after extra-time in the return fixture on Wednesday.
Sitting ninth on the standings, seven points off the top six, Fiorentina must now turn their attention to the Serie A and their push for a European finish. La Viola claimed a 2-0 victory at Salernitana in their previous fixture with Christian Kouame and Jonathan Ikone getting the goals.
Foorentina have a decent record at the Stadio Artemio Franchi as they are unbeaten in seven of their last eight home matches across all competitions. A 5-1 victory over Frosinone is among their results in that run, although Vincenzo Italiano’s men are without a clean sheet in their last seven Serie A home matches.
It has been a difficult campaign for Sassuolo, who have spent most of their time wallowing in the relegation zone. They are just two points from safety and need a swift upturn in results in order to beat the drop.
While Sassuolo are not mathematically doomed yet, their recent form does not inspire much confidence. Davide Ballardini’s men have picked up just one win from their last 14 Serie A matches, suffering nine defeats in that run, including a 3-0 home loss to Lecce last time out.
Sassuolo have also been poor on their travels and are winless in their last 10 away matches. They have suffered eight defeats in that run but played out a 2-2 draw with Salernitana in their previous fixture on the road.

Fiorentina have an 8-7 advantage with six draws from 21 previous matches against Sassuolo. La Viola have also won two of the last three meetings but Sassuolo claimed a 1-0 victory in the reverse fixture back in January.
Players to watch
Nicolas Gonzalez is often involved in much of Fiorentina’s attacking play and has seven Serie A goals so far. The forward has also found the net in two of the last three meetings with Sassuolo and is priced at 9/5 by William Hill to get on the score sheet once again.
Sassuolo will look to Andrea Pinamonti to provide the spark in attack having scored 10 Serie A goals this season. The striker grabbed the only goal in the reverse fixture and is priced at 3/1 by bet365 to find the net on Sunday.

Sassuolo have seen over 3.5 goals in two of their last three matches and a repeat is priced at 15/8 by BetVictor. Over 2.5 goals could also be considered at 3/4 by Paddy Power while 888Sport is also offering 3/4 on both teams to score.
Fiorentina are priced at minimal odds for a straight victory so a win and over 2.5 goals could be considered at 6/4 with BoyleSports.
