JOHNB reckons Cold As Ice can hit a hot streak on Friday as he makes it his double-stake tip.

It was a blank Thursday for our man who is now 22.37pts down but he's expecting big things from the joint Nap and NB.

Johnb's Friday Tips

Newbury 1:30
Missed Approach 4-1 bet365

Wolverhampton 6:45
Cold As Ice 2-1 NAP/NB ladbrokes (double stake)

Missed Approach & Cold As Ice 12.75-1 bet365

Cold As Ice (Nap/NB)
As soon as I knew Cold As Ice had made the move from South Africa I knew we could make money from this horse.
He is having his first start on the all weather but with the class this horse has she should take it in her stride, I have been studying her previous races and can’t see anything in her running style to give me doubts about the surface.
Wilkie Haggas the trainer & the owners have also made the right decision to bring jockey Bernard Fayd’Herbe over as well, he has already won on this filly in South Africa. He has ridden her 3 times with 2 wins & a 2nd.
Cold As Ice was only beaten a head in a grade one in South Africa last time out & she has been winning grade twos.
This race on Friday is a fast track qualifier to get automatic entry into the all weather finals day where connections will already have an eye on the prize money.
This could & should be the bet of the year, depending on fitness but as she is here to get to finals day I feel Willie Haggas will have her ready.

In the Missed Approach race there is a 30p rule 4 but it doesn’t affect us as Unowhatimeanharry has already been pulled out before this tip was put up.

    From the SPORTING LIFE

COLD AS ICE is a fascinating runner as she makes her British bow in the 32Red Fillies’ Conditions Stakes at Wolverhampton.

William Haggas has chosen this All-Weather Championship Fast-Track Qualifier to start off his South African recruit and if running up to her rating of 110, she would surely take all the beating.

Formerly trained by Joey Ramsden, Cold As Ice was a dual Group Two winner in her native country before switching up to Group One level at Kenilworth, finishing second in what was her final South African start back in January.

She had previously thrown away any chance of glory in the Cape Fillies Guineas when bursting through the stalls before the start, prompting connections to withdraw her after the daughter of Western Winter finally galloped loose.

Bernard Fayd’Herbe was the rider in the plate and it is perhaps telling he is willing to make the journey to Britain to partner Cold As Ice.

Among the best in South Africa, he should not find the Wolverhampton track too demanding and if Cold As Ice can overcome her lengthy absence, she has the conditions of the race in her favour.

Clearly there is a question mark as to how the foreign form stacks up, but the established British runners appear to be an average bunch and Italian import Kyllachy Queen could be the major threat.

Got myself a winner at last, new name but same old maidens for me.

Funny how you get to know trainers and I know that Burke uses j Haynes for maidens. Not as much this year as last but he’s had enough to be up eith level stakes.

For today my day bet is the already posted maximiser.

This is not criticism of JB, but I think that we learned that those foreign horses are just not as good over here. This is second one being called best bet of the year and flopped just like the other one from Hong Kong.

Those stats will be made up with all those Prescott no hopers that are running for there handicap mark he also gets loads of rides on the all weather with alot of them not having a chance biggest stat is him being top all weather jock last year and well in front this year already if you can find a stat for say under 5/1 shots on the all weather it will be high. He always seems to have the horse in the right place to pounce then he gives it the kitchen sink not very pretty to watch he also likes to give them the max hard whips but thats what us punters want.
