SOMETIMES research pays off and sometimes it doesn't. On Monday it did and that was pleasing on a quiet night.
Nancy brought up the Super Single at 10-11 and two late goals from Boreham Wood landed the Daily Double at 6-5 with Preston winning easily at Havant.
I studied most of the main games and tipped wins for Nancy, Preston, Boreham Wood and Rio Ave and suggested Fortuna Dusseldorf to win or draw so all of those came in and that was satisfying after a disappointing Sunday.
On paper Tuesday looks tough with the dreaded JP Trophy matches as well as Conference games and some Scottish Cup replays and lower-league action in Scotland.
The best bets could be on the goals markets but teams news, especially for the JP Trophy games, is key and I'll be hunting for it in the morning before putting up tips around lunchtime.
Bristol City won't put out a full side against Wimbledon and I'd imagine Orient will rest players at home to Northampton. In other games it's Bury v Tranmere and Crawley v Gillingham. Tranmere boss Micky Adams has already stated he will give fringe players a chance so Bury look a decent bet and the Gills should win if they put out a strong side.
Team news is tougher to find for Conference games but at first glance the best bets are Barnet at home to a Torquay side who have lost four in a row on the road, Gateshead at home to Lincoln, Macclesfield at home to Chester and Bristol Rovers at Alfreton.
And having read up on all the games this morning the best of the lot could be Dover at home Braintree. Dover dumped Morecambe out of the FA Cup on Saturday and a day later Braintree were hammered 6-0 at home to Chesterfield.
Dover sit just above the Conference Premier drop zone but have won their last five home games in all competitions while Braintree, with two away wins all season, have won just one of their last nine in the league.
Form and stats have convinced me to pick Dover as the Super Single – the one thing I don't have is team news so if anyone hears of anything to put us off please post. Dover have already been cut to a best 11-10 at William Hill and Ladbrokes while 10bet go 1-1.
Having put up a winning Daily Double yesterday I'm going with another and it's Conference leaders Barnet against a Torquay side who have lost four in a row. Barnet have a couple of players out but should win it.
Add Brechin to beat Stirling Albion in Scottish League One. Brechin have won two in a row to boost confidence and face an Albion side who will make changes to freshen up the side after playing 120 minutes in the Scottish Cup at the weekend then winning after the longest shoot-out in the tournament's history – 28 penalties.
Brechin won 5-0 at Stirling in September and their rock-bottom opponents haven't won any of their last six – drawing three including two against junior outfit Hurlford in the Cup.
Having put a single and a double I'm going for a goals treble rather than a Top Treble. Teams I considered for a Top Treble were Bury, Gateshead and Alloa at home to Ayr in a Scottish Cup replay but I don't want to put up too many bets on a night like this.
For the goals line I have to start with Elgin v Annan in Scottish League Two. Elgin have just played out a 4-4 draw then 5-4 replay defeat to junior side Bo'ness in the Scottish Cup and that's a worrying number of goals to lose.
In all competitions they've conceded 17 in six games but scored in five of those and they drew 3-3 at Annan earlier in the season. Anna's last two matches have produced 12 goals and the previous six meetings have been over 2.5 goals – averaging exactly four a game.
Add both to score at Gateshead v Lincoln with the past three meetings going that way including a 3-3. Both sides have been in good scoring form with Gateshead hitting 10 in three games and Lincoln's last six seeing both on target.
Complete the treble with both to score at Forest Green v Eastleigh. It was 2-2 when they met earlier this season and before the weekend FA Cup loss to Scunthorpe they had drawn 3-3 with Lincoln and lost 4-1 to Gloucester. Four of Eastleigh's last five have seen both score and hopefully this will go the same way.

Just had a look on burys team news and theres actually no indication of a weakend side. Infact its stronger with soares coming back after suspension and nardiello is back though may not start as only played 45mins at weekend after injury. Theyve also signed a new keeper on loan from rotherham but not sure whol get the nod.

Quick question: while placing my bet yesterday I made the mistake of putting Preston in my accumulator, not the game they won yesterday (Mr F’s tip), but saturday’s game against Bradford. Everything else in my accumulator came in, so basically I depend on a Preston win against Bradford Saturday for a return of 270euro. Any advice would be most welcome (I will obviously cover, but I’d like to know what you guys think of Preston’s chances). Thanks!

Monsieur Maurice, I think Preston will beat Bradford but you’ll know that going by the price. I’d look at covering the draw or Bradford/draw depending on how much you want to spend. The first one isn’t full cover of course and may have to be addressed again inplay.

THE feelgood factor was at play again at Tynecastle yesterday when Ann Budge, owner of the SPFL Championship leaders Hearts, revealed how they have effectively cleared all of their £575,000 football debt.
With the help of the supporters group Foundation of Hearts – which last night revealed the name of the director-elect who will complete the make-up of its six-man board – the club were left to pick up the tab following their successful exit from administration in June.
As well as money owed to current and former players, Hearts were also in arrears to clubs such as Liverpool (£46,600), Stenhousemuir (£12,000) and Musselburgh juniors (£5800).
As part of the agreement with Budge, the Foundation, who will be handed her majority shareholding within three-to-five years, transferred an immediate £1m at the completion of the Company Voluntary Arrangement.
Hearts’ financial position has also been improved by supporters buying more than 12,500 season tickets and Budge admits only £23,000 of the club’s football debt will be outstanding beyond November.

I prefer to follow tips that are singles or doubles as close to evens or just over as possible than rather have to back 2 bets ie sinlges to make same around profit. Alex, as far as the btts to score, if you you look at the stats on soccerway, and go back to the start of this calendar year, the amount of games these teams have had btts is unreal. Im pretty confident on this one, but nothing is guaranteed.
As for Al Wahda to win, its 1st against 10th, although these are cup games, and can always throw a spnner in the works.

RPJM, it’s as good a reason as any not to have a bet. I still like Dover as well Bristol Rovers, Barnet and Gateshead from the Conference. The concensus seems to be to avoid the favourites in the JP Trophy bar Bury because of talk Tranmere are fielding a weakened side. In Scotland my best bets are Brechin and Alloa and all form and stats suggest goals at Elgin. Off to walk the dug then have a look at tomorrow’s card and early team news.

Liam it is too short for each way mate. An each way bet is simply a bet on it to win and a bet on it to be placed but the place bet is one quarter of the win odds. 4/1 to win is 1/1 to place.

Hi all,
A ridiculously busy work morning has meant I’m late to the party but whilst I’ve got a sec I thought I’d share some Orient news. I’ve not drawn my own conclusion yet but this may be useful for anyone betting on it:
Generally – Orient have been awful this season, I mention it each week incase people have missed the previous posts but new chairman, manager and the odd player sale has angered the fans.
However, there are signs that this has been recognised and they’re taking steps to fix it.
Last week Orient signed ex liverpool and sunderland player Dossena. A nice sign that the chairman will improve the squad rather than skimming players out and just surviving. However, he’s getting on a bit and isn’t match fit so is unlikely to be ready until Saturday (plus I haven’t checked but I’d guess he’s not registered for the tournament.
Another sign that they’re trying to get the fans back on side, tonight’s tickets for u18s are £1 and I’m pretty sure the rest of the west stand has reduced prices for adults (tbc about adults).
Orient have a special relationship with rememberence day and today will have a special ceremony, minute silence and by the sounds of it, plenty of support in the stands…
So Orient win right? Don’t be so sure, they’re still in shocking form and missing a lot of their very very best players:
Gianvito Plasmati is a doubt after missing the Oldham game, whilst Romain Vincelot (knee), Lloyd James (leg), Kevin Lisbie (shoulder), David Mooney (ankle) Jack Price (knee) are all still out.

Paddy Power have emailed me to say that they are willing to resettle your bet as a winner as what they term a “goodwill gesture”.
From a purely technical point of view when a similar situation occurred in a Premier League match we were informed by the FA that their Dubious Goals Committee say that an own goal is declared only where the initial shot is off target. I suppose that Graham Carey would argue that his shot was on target and went in albeit via the keeper!

Hi, just want to give you guys heads up on Argentina – Croatia game. Croatian coach wasn’t happy with friendly game against Argentina so close to game against Italy (he wasn’t one to ask for it,it was pushed by Suker).
As far as i know so far all or most of the main players will be rested for the game with Italy.
Still, Croatia tend to play better against better teams and Argentina will be motivation for young players to prove themselves, but if Argentina puts out strong team there could be a lot of goals for them.

Stefan Payne netted his seventh goal of the season to ensure Dover will be playing in the second round of the competition the third time in five seasons.

You could cover at least 3 or 4 times your stake? I can see that Wimbledon Double chance is 7/4! You staked £5 and could make £67!
If you were to put £16 on double chance you would either get a £28 return (-£5 for the acca stake) or £51 overall profit from the acca if it comes in!

I’m more pleased with today than any of the recent winners as once again it shows the value of the goals market. Lots of people tipped Barnet and/or Gateshead for the win and I don’t know the final scores, I hope you all won, but I turned both games off with 25 minutes to go with the profit safely banked. I’m no great tipper but that is 10 out of 12 since starting to post my goal doubles and trebles, which are my main bets, and if I can do it anyone can. Not sure what the odds were with my earlier picks, hope no one lost too much on the Belgian game and Interyernan at least made some healthy profit from the Czech game.

Well poor results early this morning with Newells and Seattle letting me down. Big losses overall yesterday and down 3 figures now since the start of October & 4 since the turn of the year.

I have my doubts about El Hass now 1902, he just doesn’t look to be able to show any presence up front. Reckon Keatings and Sow will be an excellent partnership as Keatings can score plenty and take the pressure off Sow. Reaaly think we can beat Rangers week on Saturday as they will play the usual long punts up the park and Buaben etc will lap it up whereas we will play decent fast football.

Yayy!! Late equaliser in the Cuba match brings up the over 1.5 mg & thats winners in 3 out of 4 games tonight, cant grumble at that.
