I SAID yesterday the Premier League was back with a bang and the excitement continued on Saturday.
There were goals galore, thrills and spills and shocks – and that was just at Watford. Can you imagine the return you'd have got backing Leicester, Watford and Burnley to score 3+.
The bookie would have taken your money and handed you a white coat with your slip.
Defending champions Chelsea, whose boss Antonio Conte says they can't win it again after a lack of transfer activity, should still beat Burnley but I'm not as confident about them or even Liverpool at Watford with the Phillipe Coutinho situation to be resolved.
I tipped Man City on the anteposts and they started with a straightforward win at Brighton.
My bet of the day was on over 2.5 goals at Rangers v Hibs and the Super Single landed before half-time.
The Top Treble was beaten by Livingston who threw away a two-goal lead to draw at Brechin so that was disappointing.
Overall it was a difficult day all round despite plenty of goals in Scotland's two top divisions. My Scots btts treble was a goal short – well done to Greg for landing his overs treble at 3-1 – as Forfar failed to net at Ayr and my other accumulators went down so on the day it was a 3pts loss.
Hoping for better results today as Man United and Spurs launch their Premier League campaign at home to West Ham and at Newcastle respectively. Harry Kane netted 11 goals in his final five Premier League games of last season and while he's odds on to score I can't resist him as a Super Single – even though it's been pointed out he can be a slow starter.
Newcastle will be out to put on a show on their return to the big time and I can see Spurs winning and over 2.5 match goals. Double that with Monaco who should win convincingly at Dijon.
An alternative scorer at a similar price is Man United new boy Romelu Lukaka who has netted seven in 10 games v the Hammers. He is 17-20 with William Hill to score on his Old Trafford boy and 3-1 at McBookie to break the deadlock and while United should win they don't tempt at 1-3 after yesterday's surprises.
Former United man Javier Hernandez is 4-1 with Marathonbet to strike on his return to Old Trafford.
There are two big Supercup clashes between Juventus v Lazio and Barcelona v Real Madrid but they're not always great for betting although goals could be the way to play them. The Spanish game is a two-legged affair.
Elsewhere there are top-flight matches throughout Europe and Norwich entertain Sunderland in the Championship while Wigan tackle Bury in League One.
It's not the best of cards and for now I'm happy with my two bets.

Based on early season form it appears that Nordsjaelland are good value away at Midtjylland – goals are aplenty in recent history between these two sides and the same can be said for Nordsjaelland’s opening games. Just a word of caution on Harry Kane. He usually takes 3/4 games to get his shooting boots on and he’s never a scored a premier league goal in August believe it or not.

Posted this on Thursday and real Madrid prices have already dropped slightly.
Looking ahead to the weekend I think I may have spotted some value on Sundays super cup match in Spain. Barcelona take on real Madrid and Barcelona are favourites. Now for me they should not be favourites as they have had a new manager come in, still have not shored up their defence and Neymar Has gone. Looking ahead to the weekend I think I may have spotted some value on Sundays super cup match in Spain. Barcelona take on real Madrid and Barcelona are favourites. Now for me they should not be favourites as they have had a new manager come in, still have not shored up their defence and Neymar Has gone. For me real Madrid should be favourites here and they look too strong for me.
