A little write-up for this one to defend the pursuit of a goal-fest. I backed an Asian line at about O4.5 between Holland Park Hawks and whipping boys Wide Bay about two weeks ago because it was severely underestimated by the bookies. It was 5-1 within about 25 minutes and finished 9-1 to HPH. Their opponents today are a much better outfit, but I really am drawn to HPH’s prolific home form. Their home games this season have seen the following scorelines: 5-1, 1-6, 2-7, 4-5, 3-2, 2-3 and of course that 9-1. It dwarves the goals seen in their away performances outside of a 7-2 drubbing at Eastern Suburbs and it’s a run of games that is hard to ignore.
They welcome Souths and the two did only play out a 1-1 draw back in February at Souths’ patch. Though that one was pretty dry on the goal front, Souths’ games also typically see goals. Both sides here average over 4.5 goals per game, and 10 of 14 of Souths’ games have seen 4+ goals scored. This statistic is shared by HPH whose home games have all seen at least 5 goals against a variety of opposition quality-wise. On their travels, Souths games have seen 3-2, 0-3, 4-3, 2-2, 1-3, 2-2 scorelines and there’s enough here for me to feel confident that 4 goals might be scored between these two sides.
With the line just a little beyond that preference, I’m gonna take it on at a reduced stake.
