IT was another profitable day but I feel I should have done much better.

The Liverpool -1/Rangers -1 double landed but for the Super Single I went with Man City and over 2.5 goals when I should have just taken the straight win for the champs – or even Man City -1 as I fancied them strongly.

My other two bets were down before Barcelona v Sevilla finished but a last-minute penalty miss from Sevilla returned the stake on the moneyback acca with Feyenoord beating me for a payout.

Well done to all the winners and there were plenty. Liverpool and Man City look a class above the rest and I'm standing by a City/Liverpool one/two for the Premier League.

Good luck with all of your bets today. There are a few games dotted around the continent so it could be a no-bet day for me as I concentrate on Tuesday's card which of course features AEK Athens v Celtic in the Champions League.

Again thanks to everyone who posted match previews over the weekend and let's hope we see a few more in midweek.

Agree totally that City and Liverpool will be top 2 but have to agree with Mr F that City will be champs, there is a gulf between them and the rest that will not be breached, City showed their strength in leaving their best 2 players last season on the bench in De bruyne and Sane as well as Jesus and easily disposed of Arsenal and Chelsea, if Liverpool were missing Salah,Firmino and Mane they’d do the same? I think not, strength of the whole squad not just your best 11 has a huge part to play as United showed in their 13 titles. NAP …City 1st by a distance again and Liverpool 2nd then 4 sides including United battling for 2 other champs LG places that are very hard to call

maccathered ,i dont know to much about fabhino, but sturridge is to injury prone ,lallana to busy with face products, henderson not a great midfield player imo,and shaqiri not good enough either, and you say thats as good as any one elses in the prem, imo none of them would be game changers, not like citys bench.if sturridge could stay fit he might be the best liverpool have.always liked him as a( top) player .city impressed me yesterday ,i thought arsenal might have won that one but city were to strong all over the pitch.but its early days yet dont rule out united just yet either.

    • Avatar of mark edley
      maccathered 6 years ago

Their getting there thats for sure,Liverpool can match City player for player,we proved were better than them by beating them 4 out the last five games knocking them out of the champions league also, the only reason why City won the league by so many points is because they were consistent.Liverpool have addressed their goalkeeping problem and also look solid defensively,if we beat the teams we are meant to then this title race is going to be close.

    Morning gents,

It was a decent day yesterday with team goal doubles in England and Iceland – it could have been capped off nicely in Costa Rica but for the lack of a 4th goal for the 2/1.

I put up cover of 7/2 when the 3rd went in on ’39 but didn’t take it and still scratching my head as to there not being a 4th – hey ho…

    VALUR VS. GRINDAVÍK (2015 KO):

Grindavik may well have beaten Valur last time out but the hosts are certainly the better side – I reckon current home and away form will sway this one as much as anything and fancy a few goals in the offing.

Valur have scored 3-4-1-1-2-3-3-2-2-2-2-2-2-4-3-3-2-3 team goals across their last consecutive 18 home matches and with the vast majority of these being victories, this will be in stark contrast to Grindavik’s poor away record.

They’ll be heading to Reykjavik on the back of 3 successive defeats; 0-2 to KR, 2-1 to FH and 0-3 to IBV and whilst their home form is better, I still think the high-flying hosts and last season’s surprise package Valur will be too much for them.

H2H-wise there have been a few crackers between the two sides in recent years with 3 of the last 6 seeing 5 or more match goals – more noticeably though, it’s Valur team goals at home that stand out with tonight’s hosts hitting 4-2-3 and 4 in their last 4 home H2H’s:

    Two selections to consider:

    VALUR OVER 2.5 TGS…13/8
    (Bet365)
    ??

    VALUR OVER 3.5 TGS…4/1
    (Bet365)
    ?

    Best of luck ??

Dipping my toe in the Women’s Champions League today, where understandably some of the likely goalfests are either not priced up, or priced up tightly. Two games I’d recommend for goals that ARE priced up, however, are Streymur v Honka and Gintra v NSA Sofia. Stick with me here: Honka and Gintra played out a 1-1 draw, Honka then beat NSA Sofia 5-0, and Gintra then beat Streymur 7-0. In between all that? NSA Sofia beat Streymur 3-0. On that formline, you’d have to fancy Honka to come close to matching Gintra’s 7-0 beating of Streymur. Equally, you’d expect Gintra to put a few past NSA Sofia.

The goal lines aren’t priced up in the tastiest of fashion, but I fancy taking the double on for small stakes with the thought that better markets might appear in-play for a main bet.

    Third Stake:

    Honka v Streymur

    O6.0 Asian Goal Line

    NSA Sofia v Gintra

    O4.0,4.5 Asian Goal Line

    Double @ 12/5 (Bet365)
    ____________________

Two games that are priced up a little more reasonably pre-game:

    Half Stake:

    Birkikara v Cardiff Met
    MTK Hungaria v Slavia Prague

    O2.5 Match Goals Double @ 77/100 (Unibet)
    ______________________________________

As I say, if I have any heavier stakes it’ll be because in-play markets appear with a little more choice. However, if you do see Martve Kutaisi v Anderlecht appear, get on it. The Georgian side have lost 7-0 and 12-0 to two sides that Anderlecht beat 2-1 and lost 1-0 to. They should get another battering today on that evidence.

Incheon Red Angels women vs. Boeun Sangmu women

Kicking off in 5 minutes, top plays second bottom in womens K league. Not the best of odds but markets are limited. last 2 H2H have finished 5-0, little to suggest things will be different this time around. Not great odds but haven’t had chance to find something to combine it.

Picked out two games I fancy for goals for a lunchtime double. These are teams I follow for goals. The Holland Reserve game is the first of the new season, and I’m hoping for a continuation of last seasons pattern of goals for Feyenoord.
The other game is the Norweigan 3rd Division which is well into the season, 1st v 2nd. Both high-scoring teams.

I advise going easy on stakes given the nature of these two games, however do think they’ll be goals. Both games kick off at 1PM.

    –Double–
    Feyenoord Reserves v Excelsior Reserves
    Molde 2 v Oppsal
    Over 2.5 mgls

    Over 3.5 mgls

On Saturday I should’ve let it run Alex and Paul, at half-time today I should’ve cashed out. ?

@oz777 you need to set yourself some rules like Mr F says. End of the day profit is profit whether its 50% or 1%. Sharp bettors will tell you a 1% ROI over a year is successful.

    • Avatar of C f
      tennisace 6 years ago

good point Jordan, Important to look at it over the course of a month/year rather than a day, 1% on a year is solid profit.

To be fair to Oz, he is pretty good on the cashing out front. At least he was one of the only ones who was cashing out during the weekend where every play I tipped seemed to lose at the last second from 1/16!

Cash out is there for the bookies benefit, not yours. Remember that. My advice, pretend it doesn’t exist. If you’r eputting money on a bet you should be putting it on to win, not to cash out if it looks like winning.

    • Avatar of Mr Fixit
      Mr Fixit 6 years ago

You’re right to say cash out is for the bookies but I don’t think it can be ignored.
Used sensibly it can work in your favour but as I said set some rules.

      hairyheid 6 years ago

Thanks for the response gents. Appreciate there isn’t a definitive answer but interested in your thoughts. Ive typically been like Jordan and for most part ignore it, but I’ve had too many near misses of late, I had 3 last week alone. Guess it also depends on what type of bets you are placing as well. Could be a betting masterclass subject Mr F? ?

    • Avatar of Mr Fixit
      Mr Fixit 6 years ago

Might have done in the past – I can’t remember. If not I’ll look at doing one if I get time.
Briefly I’ll only cash out if the bet is in a winning position – otherwise it’s worth hee-haw – and I have concerns something might go wrong.
I need to get a good offer – odds wise and cash wise. If I’m being offered more than 10-1 and more than £200 and it’s paying 80 per cent of full payout with a decent chance of going wrong I’ll take it.
If I take it every time under those conditions I’ll win some and lose some.
Cover options should also be considered as sometimes that will be cheaper.
If you don’t like cash out simply don’t check it and in some cases don’t activate the feature.
I’m told bookies’ profits increase by about 5 per cent thanks to folk wrongly cashing out.

    • Avatar of Leslie O'Donnell
      oz777 6 years ago

@jordan As @tennisace mentioned Jordan, I regularly cash out early, especially in the latter stages, when games are tight.
With the Molde 2 game just needing a goal in the second half, I just couldn’t see the home side not bombarding the visitor’s goal, but they were rotten.
If/when possible, anything in or around an 80% profit is a great return.
It’s ALL about the profit, and people should ALWAYS cash out for a decent return, rather than wait for the sake of a few quid.

    Morning gents.

Not much to dive into today but I’m drawn to a game in the lower leagues of England with Chelmsford hosting Dulwich Hamlet.

Dulwich have lost two of their opening three games and are without a clean sheet, while Chelmsford have 1 win in their three. They’ve only conceded once, and gave a 6-0 thumping to Harrowgate on the road on Saturday. Taking a 6-0 road victory into this home tie should give them all the confidence they need.

NFL starts next month and NBA, NHL follow soon after. Sure we will get some kind of American Sports forum led by Jordan

Trouble is @tennisace I don’t make the threads, so any thread that gets made is usually because I’ve posted a bet on a previous thread. If that makes sense? Not an MLB fan myself but NFL and NBA, BIG-TIME!

Is it just me but some of these bookies the people behind the desk are plain dull I realise they are on minimum wage and they work long hours with sometimes mosning customers but everything seems hard work a smile please and thank you and if you tell them to ring up to get u a price it’s all most the end of the world I am not saying all bookies are like this some are good but I m finding the William hills especially bad in my mind they have gone backwards

    • Avatar of Pete Thompson
      petet 6 years ago

      @bully-2
They’re not all dull but, as you say, some are on near minimum wage, working long hours and possibly aren’t that into sport. It’s like any occupation, some people are absolute diamonds and can’t help and some are there to earn a living and get through the shift as quickly as possible. I’m lucky, I love sport so talking sport with customers is perfect for me. All I’m saying is each company has good and bad eggs. My advice – find a bookie who is prepared to help and ditch the ones who find it a chore – there’s still loads of choice on the high street, even with the same bookies.

    • Avatar of Mr Fixit
      Mr Fixit 6 years ago

Most people who work in shops aren’t bookies at all – they are just till operators on a poor wage so don’t be too hard on them.
Having said that you’ll get some great staff and the guys and girls in my local Ladbrokes, especially the manager, are top notch.
William Hill not as good but not bad.
The hours are terrible but that should improve soon when the slots limits kick in.

    • Avatar of HullShaker
      HullShaker 6 years ago

Have to disagree sir – it’s a two way relationship and always found the lads and lasses in shops to be spot on! Look after them and they look after you ?

    • Avatar of Leslie O'Donnell

      Have to disagree mate @bully-2.
My brother works in Paddy Power in Clydebank, and punters love him.
He’s always in top form, even when some of the customers are being right a*@eholes!
The wages are cack, just like most jobs, but you’ll always find him smiling and joking.
The ONLY person he argues with is his missus, but she works for William Hill ?

    ??⚽️??⚽️??⚽️??⚽️??⚽️??

4-0 Valur and cock a hoop with that ?

    (Bet365)
    ??

    ***WON***

    VALUR OVER 3.5 TGS…4/1
    (Bet365)
    ?

    ***WON***

Some great looking fixtures on Tuesday but I’ve spent the last half an hour weighing up a match for Wednesday that I really like the look of…

DARLINGTON VS. BLYTH SPARTANS (1945 KO):

Serious NE derby here and the rainsodden carpark’s whippet holding cages have been sold out since May.

Darlo were my lower league darlings in 2016-2017 but the last campaign was a mixed affair – they’ve started this one with a bang mind and their opponents will be heading down to Blackwell Meadows with their roll-ups clenced firmly in their mouths after annilihating Chester 8-1 in their last game.

Both sides have seen at least 3 goals in each of their last 4 matches with the same AND btts in 10 of their last collective 12.

H2H’s have hardly been turgid affairs either; 5 of the last 6 have seen 3+ match goals with 50% seeing ‘btts and overs’ get the green light – with Blyth in the ascendency in recent seasons, I can see them blotting Darlo’s books in what could be a cracker in County Durham.

    Three selections to consider:

    DARLO OVER 1.5 TGS…4/5
    (Bet365)
    ???

    BTTS & OVER 2.5 MGS…4/5
    (Bet365)
    ???

    BTTS 1ST HALF…11/4
    (Bet365)
    ?

    Best of luck ?

    Midnight kick off:

    Fluminese v Internacional
    Btts @21/20
Internacional usually score in their away games (5 out of last 6 they’ve hit the target) and think they will tonight, but may have to settle for a score draw with Fluminese also netting at home.
    21/20 btts tempting (on paper)⚽
