MICKLOVER VS. N FERRIBY
(1945 KO):
Football can be a fickle mistress and Ferriby’s fall from grace has been rapid – much like the Colne Dynamos (remember them anyone??) side in the 90’s, they marched up through the lower league ranks then slid back from whence they came in double-quick time.
I’ve not managed to get to a Villagers game yet but have watched their start (back) in the Northern Prem with interest; 1 draw and 1 loss spells out a pretty dull opening to the campaign after conceding a late goal at Whitby and the loss/draw combo matches exactly Mickleover’s own two games.
But, despite that turgid picture there’s a reason I have selected this match, it was a fixture that was once one of the hottest Northern Prem H2H’s and saw some absolute crackers a few years back with no love lost between the teams.
With a total of 29 goals across the last 5 H2H’s, we have a mouthwatering average g/p/m of just under 6 goals; the scorelines of 6-2, 4-0, 3-1, 4-2 and 3-4 offer up a pretty good picture of the nature of these Derby vs Yorkshire derbies.
It may be early days in this campaign but both sides feature defences that were ripped apart throughout the end of the previous league run-in; the majority of Mickleover’s matches saw 3 or more goals whereas Ferriby suffered many a humiliating scoreline.
With no significant injury news and both managers clearly stating they want to put the campaign back on track I suspect we may be in for a few goals here at The Don Ammot Arena:
