After the dramatic penalty shoot-out that saw Luton claim a place in the Premier League on Saturday, Wembley is ready to do it all again today as Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday battle it out for a place in the Championship.
Owls fans have probably seen enough drama already following their incredible second-leg comeback against Peterborough. Their penalty shoot-out win, after coming back from a four-goal defecit, could stand them in good stead this afternoon if it goes the distance.
Barnsley's semi-final was a little less eventful. A second leg 1-0 win at Oakwell was enough to see them make it to Wembley after a 1-1 draw with Bolton.
Wednesday finished the League One campaign 10 points ahead of Barnsley but it was the Tykes that had the upper hand in the two league meetings between the sides, winning 2-0 at Hillsborough and 4-2 at home.
The bookies make Sheffield Wednesday 8/13 favourties to qualify with Barnsley priced up at 13/10.
Wednesday are 23/20 to win inside the 90 minutes and that abberation in the first leg against Peterborough aside they've been in great form. They won five of their last six in the league to finish just two points away from automatic promotion.
If they can continue that momentum and build on the high of their semi-final success it could be a Magic Monday for Wednesday.

Thanks whoever pointed out Everton first half corners yesterday. Great spot
Much appreciated 🙏
For the few that are interested in the league 1 playoff final. Obviously these are local rivals today and with everything on the line, cards looks the way to go.
The 2 matches this season between them saw a massive 8 and 6 cards.
A few might have looked at corners here. Sheff Wed were ranked 4th for away corner averages with Barnsley 8th for away corner averages ( obviously it’s at a neutral ground today ) which shows they get a fair few corners away from their own ground. There isn’t that real confident reason to target corners here with no one chasing a first leg loss or looking to add to their goal difference but I’m happy to throw in a few corners for both sides. Worth noting the score for total corners in both league games combined this season between them was 16-2 to Sheff Wed.
My bets today are
Over 2 Barnsley cards
Over 1 Sheff Wed card
Over 2 Barnsley corners
Over 2 Sheff Wed corners
3/1 bet365 bet builder
Liam Kitching to be carded 21/10 William Hill
All the best everyone that’s me done for the season, see you all in August 🙏
Barnsley beat Weds home and away in the league , 4-2 + 2-0. The card count was 8 + 7. Cole scored 1st in both games.Norwood got the 2nd goal both games.Barnsley won both ht/ft.So i have done a bet builder on these stats. Both to get over 1.5 Y cards.Cole to score, Barnsley win.Barnsley 1st goal. £5 returns £145.GL today.
In the Barnsley/Sheffield Wednesday write up it suggests Barnsley’s recent form is indifferent, bear in mind that those games were against fellow playoff contenders and all Barnsley had to do was keep the status quo. I do think these two teams are pretty close to each other (it more than one way!) and the 21/10 given generally for a Tykes victory is pretty good in a game that is for me too close to call .
For me the way Wednesday won that semi final they will have their tails up, they will be brimming with confidence. But I do agree it will be a close game, Barnsley beat them in both league games this season ( for anyone who didn’t know).
The reason I think Wednesday will be promoted is them having the more experienced squad. Barnsley have one of the youngest squads in the division if not the actual youngest, I think that could be the difference today.
Can’t disagree Den, Barnsley have been pretty steady mostly with Wednesday being good but when they’re bad they’re really bad, depends on which Wednesday team turns up and as you say, experience may be the key.

🇳🇴 Sarpsborg 08 v Aalesund 🇳🇴
-Sarpsborg to Win
🇮🇸 Vikingur Reykjavik v Valur Reykjavik 🇮🇸
-Vikingur to Win
▪️Double
▪️1.64/1, ladbrokes
❗️Reasoning❗️
🇳🇴 Sarpsborg lie fourth in the Norwegian top flight after seven games having gone unbeaten since an opening day home defeat to leaders Bodo/Glimt. More impressively they have picked up maximum points in their last two matches at home to third placed Brann (2-1) and away to fifth placed Lillestroem (1-2).
Aalesund shocked everyone last time out with a 3-1 home win over reigning champions Molde, breaking a run since the start of the season of seven games without a win, Molde however haven’t had the best of starts this year sitting midtable after eight games with ten points, already twelve points off of the top.
Aalesund sit bottom of the league having only picked up one point prior to the Molde meeting which broke a run of seven games in row without a win, away from home they have lost 4/4.
🇮🇸 Vikingur sit pretty at the top of the Icelandic top flight having won all nine games so far in the league, opening up a six point gap already to last year’s champions Breidablik and eight point gap over tonight’s opponents Valur.
Valur are doing fine in third having won 6/7 games at the start of the season, since then however a shock home defeat in the Cup to 1st Division Grindavik (1-3) has seemed to have knocked confidence. In the two league games since that defeat they have picked up one point, which was a goalless draw at home to bottom placed Keflavik. The other a more respectable 1-0 away defeat to reigning champions Breidablik, nonetheless confidence can’t be the best going into tonight’s game away against their rivals boasting an 100% record so far in the league.

Best of luck!
Back in Argentina today for a half NAP (cold turkey) stake bet only after last night’s 4 bets on the same game went mainly down due to the lack of an away goal.
Lesson is maybe 1 or 2 bets only on one game to lessen the blow 🤔
Saying that if the game was replayed today I’d probably do the same bets as the away teams stats suggested they would score but that’s showbusiness 😄

Banfield v Rosario Central
23:00
Argentine Primera Division 🇦🇷
Both teams to score 11-10 (hills)
Based on previous head to head here
7/7 and 10/11 meetings here seen BTTS.
Recent league form not so clever especially from banfield (just 10 goals scored this season) so 1-1 probably the ceiling of expected goals here.
Prediction
banfield 7 Rosario central 4
Cheers Macca for the Pickford booking!
