ALLOA ATHLETIC appear to have gained a new lease of life under new boss Brian Rice and they look solid good things to beat Dumbarton.

Since the ex-Hamilton Accies manager joined up, the Wasps have lost just one game and that was to in-form Airdrie. They have drawn with League One leaders Cove Rangers – a game where they were leading 2-0 until they got a man sent off – and Queen's Park and defeated Peterhead and East Fife in their last two games.

With the likes of Kevin Cawley and Stefan Scougall in fine form, Alloa are motoring as the business end of the season approaches although they have surely given themselves too much to do to make the play-offs.

Dumbarton stopped a miserable run of five defeats in a row with a goalless draw against Montrose last week, but they have failed to even score in their last four games.

And it will be a tough ask for them to take anything from the Indodrill with Alloa cut during the week to 10/11.

AIRDRIE have been favourites of ours recently and it's something of a surprise to see them at almost evens to win at League One bottom bogs East Fife.

The Methil men look doomed at the foot of the table and are four points from safety. But they are up against a Diamonds side who continue to go great guns.

Unbeaten in the league since December 7 – a run of 15 games, they were seconds away from beating leaders Cove Rangers last week before losing an agonising injury time equaliser.

They've scored in every game since mid-November and should surely be too strong for Fife who have failed to score in three of their last four games.

Airdrie remain five points behind Cove and aren't giving up on the title and a win at New Bayview is a must.

ABERDEEN finally got the monkey off their back in their last game with Jim Goodwin's new charges picking up their first win for him and they can send Dundee deeper into the doom on Saturday at Dens Park.

The Dons have been truly dismal on the road this season. They've won only twice away from Pittodrie and that was courtesy of a goalkeeper howler at Livingston and a blatant handball that was missed at St Johnstone.

However, they looked decent against Hibs and have bought into the Goodwin philosophy and Dundee cannot defend – they've conceded 53 goals in 31 games this season. Evens is acceptable.
