Scottish Football expert Mark Walker pens his best bets in Scotland including a tip from League One which returns after an enforced 10-week break.

Dundee United v Aberdeen

ABERDEEN begin life after Derek McInnes and they can do it with a win at Tannadice against Dundee United.

The Dons finally ended an eight-year marriage with McInnes which was hurtling towards separation anyway last week.

Their recent record has been well publicised – one goal in their last nine games is appalling, but remarkably they are still clear in fourth place and still in the hunt for third with Hibs.

Twice they've faced United this season, twice they have looked by far the better team and twice it's finished goalless.

With Paul Sheerin, Barry Robson and club legend Neil Simpson in charge, you'd like to think they will perhaps try something different and take the handbrake off.

And how often do you see a manager leave a club only for the same players to suddenly look like worldbeaters? Aberdeen won't do that, but they have enough about them to beat a United side who have won just once at Tannadice since December.

Dunfermline v Inverness

DUNFERMLINE are very strong at their East End Park home and can beat Caley Thistle in Fife.

While the race to win the Championship has long been over, the battle for second place is very much alive and the Pars are in pole position to get it.

They've lost only once at home this season and that was back at the start of December and they've won their last three games at home.

Inverness picked up a morale-boosting win at Raith Rovers in midweek to ease any relegation worries which were becoming louder. It was a hard-fought battle too which could have taken a lot out of them.

But that was only their second win in their last 14 games and Dunfermline will see this as a golden chance to cement their second place.

Dumbarton v Forfar Athletic

FORFAR ATHLETIC are bottom of League One, but they look overpriced against a Dumbarton side who are struggling to name a team.

The resumption of lower league football should give everyone a lift and this is already a crucial relegation six-pointer…if indeed there is any relegation.

Dumbarton boss Jim Duffy's squad is severely depleted and while Forfar are no great shakes as the table confirms, but they got some match practice in last week with a friendly against Elgin City and they look overpriced against a Sons team who aren't very good with a full squad at the best of times.
