ST JOHNSTONE are massive 12/1 underdogs when they travel to Hampden for the League Cup tie against Rangers.
While winning it remains a big ask, they look huge value at 6/4 to win with a two-goal start in the handicaps. It's been a traumatic start for Rangers on and off the pitch with Ibrox unavailable and Philippe Clement suffering restrictions in his transfer dealings.
The decision to award the Belgian a new contract looks even more baffling after they followed up a narrow win over Motherwell last week with a financially- disastrous Champions League exit to Dynamo Kyiv, albeit after a controversial red card to Jefte.
Saints went to Euro heroes Kilmarnock on Sunday and swept the Ayrshire side away at Rugby Park. Craig Levein has injected pace and width into the side through the likes of Benji Kimpioka, Adama Sidibeh, and Andre Raymond, and they could terrorise Rangers in the big, wide-open spaces of Hampden. They look like a team that hve goals, and the handicap shout should be covered.
Backing a side that have six out of six games this season requires a leap of faith, but EDINBURGH CITY can claim at least a draw against a Bonnyrigg Rose side that is on the same level as them in League Two.
The capital club had a disastrous season last term in League One and won just three matches as financial problems limited their squad.
After those six losses, it's not much better in the bottom tier, but they came within four minutes of beating Stirling Albion in the opening league game before losing two late goals.
They are also facing a Bonnyrigg side that have lost all but one of its games this season, with the other being a draw. The East Lothian outfit have a problem scoring and have failed to net in their opening two league defeats. Edinburgh City are marginally less poor at their Meadowbank home and can be backed at 6/4 on the double chance market, so a draw would mean a collect too.
CALEY THISTLE continue to be bedevilled by off-field problems but there could be light at the end of the tunnel in the boardroom and they look too big at 6/5 to beat Montrose. Duncan Ferguson's time was a disaster after relegation, but takeover issues have not helped.
They should be doing much better on the pitch and he still has the nucleus of a decent squad who have to be winning games against a Montrose team who drew their opening two league games.
You fancy East Fife? Thought they were decent odds this weekend again.
No tips this week Mark??
