BOOKIES were reeling at the weekend as all the favourites in England and Scotland's top flights won – as well as most of the big guns on the Continent.

In fact the only odds-on team not to win in England on Saturday was Brighton – and of course they beat my homes and top treble. I said it was difficult card but that comment was referring to sides priced up at evens or above.

There's such a big card on Tuesday that I've decided to put a midweek Super Single shortlist. Remember these are picks made without considering stats or team news so please comment for or against any of the sides listed.

Super Single shortlist

MAN CITY at Man Utd

EVERTON at Newcastle

BOURNEMOUTH v Leeds

DERBY at Ipswich

WATFORD v Blackburn

NOTTS COUNTY at Crewe

BRENTFORD at Rotherham

PRESTON v Peterborough

DUMBARTON at Falkirk

LIVINGSTON v Alloa

Scunthorpe 6/4. Massive unbeaten run, madden starting to score and Cheltenham conceded 4 v Wimbledon Saturday

Mr f, good to see a midweek list. As The Banker I will not be backing any of these but I know all about the hstory of the super single. I have made my own list and from these I’ll put up my 1st banker challenge bet tomorrow. I am quoting Laddies prices but will of course look for best price.

    The Banker’s bankers

    BAYERN at Hertha Berlin 1-5
    BURNLEY v Doncaster 2-5
    LEICESTER v Yeovil 2-7
    WOLVES v Colchester 1-3
    HAMILTON v Raith 1-2

Bayern or Leicester or even the double which will pay less than 1-2 which I never go above is my favourite. Every tip I do is based on price alone – I trust the bookies know what they’re doing. I never look at stats, form or team news. The fact so many favourites won at the weekend is not a fluke – it’s what bookies priced them up to do.

The Banker, I’d be happy to throw some of my bankroll at those five. In fact two of them are on my Top Treble in tomorrow’s Daily Record. A 4-1 fivefold is a bit extreme for you though.

    • robert miller 10 years ago

good luck to banker.. but if your lookin at returns of around 1/2 your gonna have to have a seriously high strike rate to stay ahead of the game…..

    • Mr Fixit 10 years ago

Robert, he’ll need about 90 per cent I’d have thought but will be another interesting challenge to follow.

Got to be man city at 6-5 at corals.
Man u are still a poor team and just because they have won there last 2 games only papers over the cracks.
    Man city all the way.

Like the 13/10 available on Everton Mr F. Newcastle nothing to play for, lost to a poor Fulham side recently and only just beat Palace at home last time out. Everton haven’t won away for a few months but we’ll spin that around and say they are due an away win ;)

Jagielka back is a big boost so I’m pretty sure they’re at full strength. Remy back for Newcastle or not?

    • Mr Fixit 10 years ago

Saint93, I’ll check team news in the morning but Newcastle always have something to play for … their fans.

    • kenny 10 years ago

The big insentive for Newcastle will be gaining a 4 point cusion over Southampton who they play on Saturday also if man its lose they’ll be only 2 points behind them so Newcastle have a lot to play for.

    • Mr Fixit 10 years ago

Kenny, for those wondering Remy is out for Newcastle.

  6. Saint93 10 years ago

I’m definitely on City though. Kompany’s available again. Hopefully Carrick is at CB again, either way, Yaya & Fernandinho are dominating the centre of midfield all day long for me.

I like the look of man city, derby and Preston out of those!! One team who I do like the look of even though the odds aren’t good enough for the super single is York at home to Torquay.

  9. Darren Winch 10 years ago

WATFORD to Beat Blackburn for me Won there last 5 home games.

  10. Ianfitz1210 10 years ago

Banker. That’s a very simple approach you have. You return consistent profit in the long term?

    • Mr Fixit 10 years ago

Ianfitz1210, if you read his earlier comment then he says so. He’s starting a challenge tomorrow so let’s see how he does.

To be fair out of the ones above I would only consider Man City and Preston.
I really believe Brentford will slip up at Rotherham.
Haven’t decided my picks yet. Think I’m going to go for a couple of accumulators, a goals galore accy and a team to get over 1.5 goals accy.
    My selection of wins:
    Burnley
    Wolves
    Leicester
    Reading
    Man City
    Preston

I fancy a small stake on Rotherham at 19/10.

Also does anyone know who will be in charge of Forest. At 4/5 I think there is some value there with them playing Charlton.

    • Mr Fixit 10 years ago

craigyboy, don’t see why it won’t be Warnock.

  12. Shafi 10 years ago

    Warnock has ruled himself out.

  13. Greg Browning 10 years ago

Got Crewe in my overs list and Mr F, they had a good win at the weekend away to Gillingham – would be reluctant to back Notts county! They did beat Tranmere on Saturday but their away form is terrible!

  14. WEIRD AL 10 years ago

    WIGAN AT QPR 2/1!!!!!!!

  15. Donny 10 years ago

Man City 0ver 1.5 team goals 10/11 has to be a shout.

  16. Dean 10 years ago

Craigyboy, if your interested in an over 1.5 team goal accumulator I recommend the following teams:

    Leicester over 1.5 team goals

    * Leicester have scored at least 2 goals in each of their last 7 league games
    * Yeovil have conceded at least 2 goals in 4 of their last 5 away games. They’ve conceded 8 in their last 3 league games

Bayern Munich over 1.5 team goals

*Bayern Munich, who can wrap up their Bundesliga title defence with a win against an out-of-form Hertha Berlin, have scored at least 2 goals in their last 18 league games. 5th October 2013 was the last time they failed to find the target more than once.

    Liverpool over 1.5 team goals

*Liverpool are scoring like there’s no tomorrow scoring 24 in their last 6 league games. They’ve averaged 3.64 goals in their last 11 league games.

    * Sunderland have hit a bad spell of form losing their last 4 games in all competitions, conceding a 12 goals in the process. It’s hard to imagine Sunderland containing a prolific Liverpool attacking quartet

    Barcelona over 1.5 team goals

    * Barcelona welcome Celta Vigo at the Nou Camp and spirits will be high after their impressive 4-3 win over rivals Real Madrid. Barcelona have scored at least 2 goals in their last 15 home games. Barcelona have scored at least 2 in 5 of their 6 meetings with Celta Vigo

Atletico Madrid over 1.5 team goals

    * La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid have scored at least 2 goals in 12 of their 16 home games and with La Liga’s second top scorer Diego Costa in hot form, along with the teams need to win to stay in the fight for the title, they should have more than enough to score at least 2
    * Granada have conceded two or more goals in 5 of their last 6 games

    £10 returns £35.13 @ Boylesports

  17. craigyboy 10 years ago

Great minds Dean. I’ll be taking the top 3 and maybe Athletico – see what the odds are like. I can’t imagine Barca’s odds are going to be great. I’ll end up taking Wolves as well. Cheers for the stats. Always some good money to be made on over 1.5 team goals I find.

  18. RH76 10 years ago

Dean, you are wrong about Leicester………they drew 1-1 with Blackburn on Saturday……..beat my acca!!

  19. StephenMurray 10 years ago

No one fancy orient at 5/6 ladbrokes at home to oldham, few bad results lately but surely a must win for orient?

    • Mr Fixit 10 years ago

StephenMurray, I and plenty of others have mentioned Orient.

Derby @ 7/4 away from home to Ipswich. Derby’s catalyst is Craig Bryson, up until his hatrick contribution in the 5-0 thumping of Florist, he’s not been on the form that he was during our October/nov/December 9 games winning streak. He got injured around the last week of December and our form dipped. He’s back.. Scored a hatrick against florist ( the last player to do so was 1898 – steve bloomer ). nuff said.

When Steve McClaren was poised to take over his first game, he was sat in the stands when derby entertained Ipswich at home. we were 4-1 down at halftime. The Mac walked into the dressing room, dunno what was said…. Derby were a different class the 2nd half… it finished 4-4. God knows what the score would of been if the ref had a ” Fergie watch “.

I’ll be backing derby at -1 @ 9-2 with bet365 I’m confident. also, we’ve had 4 or 5 cleansheets of late, so the defence is improving too.

    • Nathan Ufton 10 years ago

      my £5 acca tonight.

      Burnley @ 1/2
      Leicester-1.0 @ 8/11
      Reading @ 8/15
      Burton Albion @ 1/1
      Derby (-1) @ 9/2
      £5 would return £218.50 with bet365

    • Nathan Ufton 10 years ago
