HAVING beaten Wigan to lift the Community Shield, Manchester United are 8-11 with Coral to win a major trophy in the 2013-14 season (1-1 not to).
The Premier League champions are 5-2 to successfully defend their league title and it’s 20-1 they record a League and FA Cup double.
Robin van Persie’s double over Wigan saw the Dutchman pick up from where he left off last season. Coral quote 5-6 for Van Persie to score 24 or more league goals in the upcoming season and 7-1 he finishes as the league’s top scorer with United winning the league.
Coral spokesman Tim Reynolds said: “David Moyes will be a happy man to have claimed his first piece of silverware as Manchester United manager but you can guarantee the next nine months will be a lot more challenging.
“United go into the new season as third favourites to claim the title and with the future of Wayne Rooney still uncertain David Moyes could be hard pushed to deliver a major trophy in his first season in charge.”
Man United are away to Swansea in their opening match of the season on Saturday and are 3-4 for United to come away from the Liberty Stadium with maximum points and 12-5 they have to settle for a draw.
Meanwhile, Ladbrokes report money on United to win the title at 5-2 after beating Wigan. They make Manchester favourites at 11-5, just in front of Chelsea at 9-4.
Ladbrokes spokesman Alex Donohue said: “It may have only been a win over Wigan but the sight of Moyes and his side lifting a trophy has inspired fans to bet that the success this season doesn't end there.
“United may be the third favourites for the league but at this stage there is plenty of confidence in them retaining their title.”

Rooney must stay he can make van Persie an even bigger goal machine, his super cross’s and his amazing football brain working in the middle of the park where he needs to be, well at least just behind the strikers that’s where I feel he’s best, everyone just seems to be against him at the minute, van the man comes in and takes the lime light because of the goals he scores but Rooney does a lot of the hard work building up to them goals and that’s not talked about that much, and with most people just reading papers they think Rooney has gone cold but, they’re wrong!! Top class man, good luck this year Wayne ;-)
