WE ARE at the semi final stage, where Robert Thornton will square off versus Mensur Suljovic in the first game followed by Michael van Gerwen versus Mark Webster.
Both Thornton and MVG are short to make the final with a best 17/20 in places for the pair to meet in the final and a whopping 18/1 for both underdogs to meet in the final.
I was looking at the 180 tally and the stats are in the three games each have played:
MVG – 15
Thornton – 12
Webster – 5
Suljovic – 5
MVG has averaged exactly five a game in his campaign so no wonder he is 1/3 to win the maximum count over Webby! Suljovic has only hit five compared to Thornton's twelve during the tourney.
Both MVG and Thornton are not bigger than around 3/4 to both win the maximum count and based on the stats there will be some solid following on this. Some wanting a bigger price will get nearly 13/10 with Betfair sportsbook on the -1.5 180 handicap.
I have seen Webster in the past, and he is capable, and could keep the maximum count close, although MVG wants to regain this title once more, so our recommendation is on the straight MVG win on the 180 count.
We will double this up for an even money bet with Thornton to win the 180 count by two or more. In contrast, Mensur is not a big maximum scorer, and has failed to get past two in all his games, with the length of these games giving true value back to the fans in length.
Thornton has averaged four a game, although he hit just two against Pipe – although the game was very scrappy and it was the anniversary of his mothers death. His average in the other two combined equates to six, and we think Thornton can win this by two or more.
Recommendation:
- MVG most 180s Vs Webster and Thornton -1.5 180s – 1/1 Betfair sportsbook – double stake
Thanks Dave. Was on, though accidentally did MVG most 180s & Thornton -1.5 sets double. A nice win regardless. Well in front following your tips so far & a nice return also on the ante post picks. Cheers.
Alright could anyone help me with any advice on a way to cover a bet. I put a £50 bet on Robert Thornton to win the Grand Prix earlier in the week at 20/1 to win £1050. I’m not confident in Thornton winning and the cashout on Paddy Power is now unavailable after being £158 tonight then down to £114 before becoming unavailable. MVG is 1/6, can anyone advise on the best way to maximise a cashout
Peasngravy, you’ve maybe missed the boat. Your best chance is to hope Thornton takes a lead and at that point MVG will be a bigger price and cashout may return.
did you cash out…..I hope you didn’t mare!
