MRF2018 KilmarnockvStMirren

Kilmarnock vs St Mirren

SPFL Premiership. Kick-off: 3pm, Saturday 29th December.

KILMARNOCK'S remarkable season shows no sign of stopping and a victory over struggling St Mirren could see them end 2018 just a point off the Premiership summit.

That would depend on Celtic losing the Old Firm derby but Killie will be winners no matter the result at Ibrox, provided they can take care of the Buddies.

If Rangers lose or draw against the Hoops then Steve Clarke's can jump above them into second while a Celtic defeat would leave the Rugby Park men just a point behind both Glasgow giants going into the winter break.

That speaks volumes for the job Clarke has done in Ayrshire and the bookies have certainly taken notice, as Killie are 13/25 for a win, with St Mirren 5/1 outsiders and the draw 3/1 at 888 Sport.

Oran Kearney's side have improved in recent weeks and only lost 1-0 to St Johnstone on Boxing Day thanks to a late Tony Watt goal.

But it's hard to see them getting anything from such a well-drilled Kilmarnock side who are unbeaten in their last three games.

The odds on Killie don't appeal much but if you back them to win with a clean sheet they stretch to a far better 5/4 with 888 Sport. I also like the look of Clarke's side to be winning at both half-time and full-time which is 13/10.

I fancied Eamonn Brophy for a goal on Boxing Day but he started on the bench for the 1-0 win over Motherwell. The striker should return fresh for this one so I'll tip him again for either first scorer (5/1 with 888 Sport) or anytime scorer (41/20).

Adam Hammill can conjure a goal out of nothing, having netted some spectacular long-range strikes for St Mirren this season.

The Scouser looks their best bet for a goal against a tight Killie rearguard and is 13/2 for anytime scorer and a whopping 14/1 to break the deadlock.

Recommended bets

  • Half-time Kilmarnock/full-time Kilmarnock 13/10 (888 Sport)
  • Kilmarnock win with a clean sheet 5/4 (888 Sport)
  • Eamonn Brophy anytime scorer 41/20 (888 Sport)
