FRIDAY was a bit freaky as far as my Super Single and Top Treble was concerned. England's women couldn't hold out for 60 seconds after equalising in the 89th minute against Spain.

And as far as the treble went that was really unlucky. My two “bankers” HJK and Dundalk won easily. And instead taking both to score at Honefoss to complete my treble I went with the Union Berlin-Celtic match.

Now I really should have just taken Union to make four defeats in a row for Celtic on tour but after the Hoops' 6-2 defeat by Greuther Furth I went for the goals option. HJK won 3-0, Dundalk are winning 3-0 as I type … and of course Union won 3-0. It should have been the easiest treble of my life.

Anyway we move on to Saturday morning Gold Cup games which start with Trinidad v Tobago v Haiti at midnight and followed by Honduras v El Salvador at 2.30am.

My win percentage on Confederations Cup matches was 87 per cent and so far in the Gold Cup it's 100 per cent on the match results.

As far as my recommended bets goes it's been seven out of nine which is pretty good success rate. The wins came on Panama v Martinique, Mexico v Canada under 2.5 goals, Costa Rica to win to nil v Cuba, USA -3 v Belize, El Salvador v T&T draw, Canada v Martinique under 2.5 goals and Panama +1 v Mexico.

The early Friday morning games are tougher to call. T&T are a best 6-4 with Skybet and Paddy Power and while they should beat the minnows, who are 11-5 at BetVictor, I'm not sure they can be trusted.

They drew their opener with El Salvador but netted twice after five games in a row without scoring that included defeats by Estonia and Romania and a 0-0 draw with Gold Cup new boys Belize.

Haiti were disappointing in their opener as they went down 2-0 to Honduras after scoring in three of their previous four including friendlies against Spain and Italy.

As I say it's a hard one to pick but I'm going for over 2.5 goals at 13-10 with William Hill.

The later match between Central American rivals Honduras and El Salvador could be just as tight. Three of the last five meetings of the sides have been stalemates and although Honduras are favourites I'm another draw at 5-2 with Skybet.

Honduras were happy to beat Haiti but had lost four of their previous five while El Salvador looked decent in their clash with T&T.

Recommended Bets

T&T v Haiti over 2.5 goals (12am)
(13-10, William Hill)

Honduras v El Salvador draw
(5-2, Skybet)

Ben, on paper Honduras should win, just not convinced by their recent form and they seriously lack goals.

fingers crossed- under 2.5 goals is a cert!

Haiti look they want it more that Trinidad do & the more likely to grab the 2nd Goal

    Haiti to Win @ 1.50

Trinidad & Tobago are absolutely woeful. Kenwyne Jones has made hundreds of appearances in The English Premier League, best league in the world, surely he can make more of an impact….

Over 2.5 isn’t looking too bad, 1-0 Haiti HT

I backed Haiti in the first match expecting them to play like this and they couldn’t even score. This is how they played against Italy and Spain. A bit of the under 20s feel about this Gold Cup.

2-0 Haiti get in didn’t even know hopefully they can hold on to this & recover my losses plus profit from the 1st half

Anyone know who plays upfront for USA ??? Thanks

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

lee, chris wondolowski should start after hitting a hat-trick in the opener. Landon Donovan will also play unless the USA decide to change things round.

Mr.f I just had a little look and everywheres saying the same thing they will rest everyone and put the second team out…….these guys called onyewu and Beasley to start ??? There resting players and everyones still tipping them to score 4+

    • Hank 11 years ago

Lol, these guys Beasley. Beasley has played for Man City, PSV Eindohoven and Rangers….Hardly an unknown.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

lee, there was always the possibility of USA resting players. They should still be good enough to win but game is at 8.30pm, live on ESPN, so my advice would be to hold off on the handicaps until teams are revealed.

Onyewu played for Newcastle and AC Milan

Weordie he also played in my side Sporting Clube Portugal. He is a very techinically limited slow player but he compensates that with his physical presence and aerial threats in set pieces. He played here for a year and then was loaned to Malaga where he also failed only playing 3 games or something like that.

Yeah he was garbage for us. shame because he looked the part
