THE NFL regular season is right around the corner and I have a pick for week 1.
They say never back your own team, but in the NFL you can almost always rely on Green Bay at home. We are only three weeks into the pre-season, but a few factors play into the Packers hands early.
The Packers get to play their last home game at home, and will have their opener against Seattle in Lambeau too, so no long distance travel for any of the players in the green and gold over the next two weeks.
Seattle however face a trip south down to Oakland, and will then travel east to Green Bay. Neither of the Seahawks or Green Bays starters will play the final pre-season game, so you can be sure the likes of Aaron Rodgers and Jordy Nelson won’t suit up.
However the two road games will have an effect on the Seahawks players even though they don’t play. Green Bay have had Seattle's number since their NFC championship collapse, winning the last two which have both been at Lambeau. Three in a row?
Seattle also have problems of their own. Last week they lost their starting left tackle to an ACL tear and had to trade to get extra depth on the offensive line.
While they still might have one of the best defences this year, being asked to hang with Aaron Rodgers, and a whole host of receiving talent, it’s going to be tough. A home advantage is a -3 spread in the NFL regardless unless you are the Cleveland Browns. This is a nice bet for the conditions Seattle are facing coming into week 1.
NFL Week 1 Tips
- Rob Gronkowski Patriots) Anytime TD
- (5-6, Skybet) – 3pts
- Mike Gillislee & Rob Gronkowski Anytime TD
- (14-5, William Hill) – 1pt
- Green Bay Packers -2.5
- (3-4, 888Sport) – 8 points
- Minus 3 is also worth a gamble at 47-50 with Marathonbet.

Cowboys with that suspension and not strengthened as much as giants I’m feeling a giants win Monday and to have a really good season
Ante posts bets
Eli Manning super bowl MVP 80/1 long shot but if they do it he’ll be the reason
Giants NFC east winner 9/4
Steelers will be a tough side again
Im going to spend tonight going though it all there my early thoughts
No Elliot suspension I’m hearing makes it a closer match
This is the closest I can find to a basketball thread so I’ll post the prop I’ll be on tomorrow in the Eurobasket.
Unibet have Lauri Markkanen o23.5 PRA, in the first 4 games he’s had 29, 32, 38 and 24. My only fear with this is that Finland face Iceland, bottom of the group, which could lead to him getting rested if they’re smashing them.
Petteri Koponen would also be worth a look after his last two break out games(32 and 33 PRA). His line is sat at 18.5 PRA. However I don’t feel comfortable taking 2 core players in case of the blowout and them both being rested.
Won, Markkanen ends with 23 points and 2 rebounds after only playing 7 minutes in the first half.
Really think Cleveland will win more than 4.5 games this season 5/6 skybet .
QB still a concern but strengthened in most other departments
J Collins is a great signing at linebacker
Things could finally be looking up for the dawg pound
Rob Gronkowski (New England Patriots) Anytime TD @ 5/6 @ Skybet – 3 points
Mike Gillislee & Rob Gronkowski Anytime TD @ 14/5 @ William Hill – 1 point
Pretty risky prop today however it seemed too good statistically to not take. Hungary face a very strong Spanish team that have already topped the group winning all of their first 4 matches. Hungary however have also already qualified for the knock outs and are 2-2, if they beat Spain and Montenegro lose they can finish 3rd in group C. The Spanish may rest Pau and a few of their other vets as they have done previously whereas I assume Hungary will stick to their rotation. Which leads to the prop Adam Hanga, in his last 2 games he’s been the key for Hungary with 47 and 33 PRA. His line is at o19.5 PRA at Unibet. Hopefully he gets the minutes and Hungary don’t settle with bottom of the group.
Void, Hungary waved the white flag and rested Hanga.
William Hill offering EVS for a Gronk TD on their advanced odds.
Skybet doing the offer on the Pats game tonight.
Place 2 x £5 RABs and get a free £5 bet on the NFL this week. Instantly credited and there’s some decent requesta bets to be fair.
Evening gents. Love this time of year. Told the Mrs her days of watching Victoria on a Sunday night are well and truly over.
Done a few request a bets for the season but did trebled to pay between 100/1 up to 1,000/1 for bit of a free xmas. So I won’t bore you with those.
Onto tonight’s game I agree with the guys taking gronkowski especially getting evens. Quite fancy Brandon cooks getting on the scoresheet for his new club. With Edelman out cooks will see a lot of action.
Hate backing against the patriots and I won’t bit I do think the spread is too high. Guess it depends how highly you think of kansas. Playoffs? Possibly. Either way if you look at the opening weekend games over the years the kick off game always features the super bowl winners. Well they have from 2004 and always at home. Despite that most of the games have been close with only 3 or 4 blow outs. Due to this and I think kansas are Decent I am taking them with points
Kansas +8.5
Gronkowski anytime scorer
Cooks anytime scorer
Good luck
Been looking at the Skybet RequestABets for tonight & 2 that stand out for me are:
Pats-5.5,Brady 2+Passing TD’s & Gronkowski anytime @5/2
Pats to score points in every quarter @2/1
Just watching highlights from last night. Of all people, Gronk drops his endzone pass which would have brought up both bets in the first five minutes of play. Still, Pats lose which is always good for an NFL fan who doesn’t support New England ?
Falcons -6
Bills -8
Steelers -8.5
Treble pays a little over 6/1
Quite fancy the redskins at evens too might add them to my treble
NCAAF
Utah @ BYU – Utah ML
Oklahoma @ Ohio State – Oklahoma O25 points
Double pay 1.54/1 (Ladbrokes)
