EDY REJA faces a difficult test in his first game in charge at Lazio as his side entertain Inter Milan.
Reja replaces Vladimir Petkovic who has been sacked after it emerged he's agreed to take charge of Switzerland after this summer's World Cup finals.
Reja, who led Lazio to a fourth-placed finish before deciding to leave the club in the summer of 2012, takes over a team in 10th place in Serie A after one win in eight.
Inter ended 2013 in the best possible way by beating city rivals AC Milan 1-0 to halt a four-match winless run.
They will be without Argentine defender Hugo Campagnaro who serves a one-match ban, while defdner Christian Chivu and midfielder Saphir Taider are injured.
AC Milan take on Atalanta having won just one of their last nine league games and coach Massimiliano Allegri has revealed he will quit at the end of the season.
Atalanta lost 4-1 to Juventus last time out and have won just once on the road this season. Milan are still without injured striker Stephan El Shaarawy and new signing Keisuke Honda is unlikely to be handed his debut against having only just arrived in Milan from CSKA Moscow.
Genoa have top scorer Alberto Gilardino fit and after injury for the the match against Sassuolo. The Italy striker, who has scored seven times in 17 league games, dislocated his shoulder in the 1-0 defeat at Bologna on December 22 is back.
Genoa haven't won since beating Verona 2-0 November 10 with their last five matches bringing three draws and two defeats so Gilardino's return will be welcomed.
Sassuolo will be boosted by the return of captain Francesco Magnarelli from suspension after three straight defeats but miss defender Franceso Acerbi.
Coach Eusebio di Francesco's failed to net in those games but Genoa are without injured defenders Daniele Portanova, Thomas Manfredini and Alessandro Gamberini.
Napoli start the new year in third spot in the standings and are determined to cut the gap on second-placed Roma. Rafael Benitez's side have lost just once at the San Paolo stadium this season, a surprise 1-0 defeat to Parma, and Sampdoria haven't won in Naples since April 1998.
The Genoa club are unbeaten in their previous five games and visiting coach Sinisa Mihajlovic believes his team can pull off a surprise.
Napoli will be bolstered by the return of playmaker Marek Hamsik, who has been out of action since November with a foot injury. However, Swiss midfielder Valon Behrami picked up a knock on his right foot in training and has been ruled out.
Bologna are hoping to have keeper Gianluca Curci back for the relegation battle at Catania. Curci, who has not missed a game so far for Bologna, is struggling with a muscular problem.
Bologna beat Genoa 1-0 on December 22 to end 2013 one point and one place clear of the relegation zone.
Catania haven't won since November 9 and their 4-0 reverse at Roma last time out left the Sicilian outfit five points adrift of safety and have netted just 10 times in 17 games. Coach Luigi de Canio plans to sign a striker and has strengthened the midfield by bringing back playmaker Francesco Lodi from Genoa.
Torino won their last three league games of 2013 to move up to seventh in the standings. They have lost just once in their last eight league games and scored 12 goals in their previous five Serie A games.
Parma are without a win since seeing off Napoli on November 23 but have drawn their past four league games. They are at full strength with midfielder Joel Obi and striker Stefano Okaka having recovered from muscular injuries.
Antonio Cassano will lead Parma's attack after deciding to stay with the club.
Udinese have won just six of their 17 Serie A games so far and lie six points above the drop zone heading into their first game in 2014. Verona have won eight of their nine games at home but just one on the road so that's one fact to be aware of.
Meanwhile, there are two games in La Liga – Rayo v Villarreal and Real Madrid v Celta Vigo.
Villarreal took only one point from their last three league games their last win was against Levante on November 24.
Rayo tasted success against Real Valladolid in the fourth round of the Copa Del Rey but are winless in La Liga since a 2-0 win over Celta Vigo almost two months ago.
Rayo returned to training after the break without midfielder Jonathan Viera and defender Ze Castro due to illness, with Johan Mojica sitting out as a precaution.
Real Madrid return to action against Celta Vigo after returning from Doha where they beat PSG 1-0 exhibition match.
They will be without Garethe Bale against a Celta side resting just above the drop zone and facing a heavy defeat.
1st time poster long time loitering….smashed it yesterday, just followed you on twitter. Keep up the good work
Looking for some advice got a trixie still on the go done celtic 4-0 BARCA 4-0 and psg 4-0 I’m guaranteed 500 but if psg win 4-0 tomoro it’s worth £5500. Looking for advice how to cover the bet .im actually hoping it gets rearranged due to weather again so bet is void I will get £1100
who you bet with??
William hill shop mate
Marky mark, have you asked them about cashing out, that is settling the bet. A 4-0 correct score is difficult to cover but you may be able to do something inplay depending on how it plays out.
i was going to say if you had done it online with b365 or other firms you could of cashed out, theres no other way of covering on a correct score, best bet is to wait and see inplay and if its 3-0 and looking like there won,t be any more goals maybe backing no more goals etc.that only way i can think of on a correct score, still nice win either way!
Inplay bets look the right way to go about see how the game pans out think score and win is 9/4 so not really worth putting on not got a lot of money to be playing about with . Thanks for comments lads al give williamhill a call regarding cash out
marky mark do you have an online account with william hill,if so they will put your bet on your account if you ask them.
Yeh got an account online
Just called they said its not possible , neither is settling the bet
To be honest it doesn’t surprise me there a joke a thought yesterday my bet was void went in to collect and they told me a was getting £1145 because psg was cancelled within 2 mins they changed there mind one member said a was to get the money the other said i had to wait till the rescheduled match was played , a cant be too grumpy because for 20 quid I’m guaranteed £540 .
if psg was cancelled mate you can demand your bet be settled.your bet was for a certain time and date,if that is not played you have a right to cash in your bet
macca the red, there are rules regarding postponed matches so no you can’t just make demands, you should check the rules. Most bookies allow the bet to stand if it’s rescheduled within a certain number of days.
Marky mark, it’s simple really. Go into a shop and ask them to show you the rules regarding postponed matches.
Palacio anytime is 2/1. Tempting
I know Bet365 void a match if it is not re-played within 24 hours. Check Will hill terms and conditions.
