SUPER SUNDAY and Clash of the Titans – they are phrases often overused.
But this weekend the tags are spot on. First we have Man City v Spurs followed by Arsenal v Man United in a spectacular double header.
The earlier matches between the sides this season produced 16 goals so hopefully there will be plenty more thrills and spills.
It was 8-2 United at Old Trafford and 5-1 City at the Etihad and for the return fixtures William Hill offer 250-1 either Arsenal or Man Utd win 8-2 and 66-1 is on offer for either Man City or Spurs to win 5-1. Pretty unlikely but we'd have said that before the first games.
Of the two games I reckon the Emirates showdown will produce most goals, especially with dodgy keepers between the sticks for both sides.
Arsenal have lost their last two Premier League games and I reckon a third is on the cards. United are a biggest 13-8 with Paddy Power and I fancy them strongly.
The Gunners are a biggest 15-8 with Blue Square and BetVictor with the draw 12-5 at BetVictor.
For first scorer it's got to be Wayne Rooney or Robin van Persie who are both 11-2 at Stan James. Over 2.5 goals pays 9-10 at Ladbrokes and but take a chance on over 3.5 at 2-1 with Ladbrokes and William Hill.
City v Spurs is tougher to call with the leaders winning only two in six and Harry Redknapp's side ending their brilliant run with a draw at home to Wolves. This could be another match with the points shared.
Once again City will be without banned Vincent Kompany while the Toures are at the African Nations along with Spurs' Manny Adebayor.
City's record at home remains exceptional but their form has dipped a bit and I fancy Spurs to get something from the game.
They are a biggest 10-3 with BetVictor and Ladbrokes with the draw 11-4 at Betfred. City are 10-11 (various).
For first scorer look at Sergio Aguero (11-2, Stan James) or Spurs' Rafael van der Vaart who looks huge at 10-1 with Stan James. On form Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon are tough for anyone to handle and Bale at 9-2 with Stan James to net any time is worth a look. He is 14-1 with the same firm to score first.
I'm sure Spurs will want to keep it tight at the start and a few of their games recently have been low scorers. Consider 23-20 with William Hill on first goal time over 31 minutes.
Recommendations
Man Utd
(13-8, Paddy Power)
Over 3.5 goals at Arsenal
(2-1, Ladbrokes, William Hill)
Bale to score
(9-2, Stan James)
First goal at Man City after 31 mins
(23-20, William Hill)
I also fancy United at 13/8. It’s too good a price to ignore.
