WE'VE sealed another stellar signing for the season with Serie A don Paolo Bandini bringing his expertise to the site thanks to our partner Unibet.
Paolo is an Anglo-Italian sportswriter who pens a superb weekly Serie A column for the Guardian and his other credits include ESPN, the BBC and TalkSport as well as making regular appearances on the Football Weekly podcast.
He's a Trevi Fountain of knowledge and we're delighted to have him on board. Here he previews Inter at Genoa.
Genoa v Inter (Sat 7.45pm)
Inter finally ended their winless run last weekend, though they required some help from a Bologna side that finished the game on nine men. Funnily enough, the same thing happened last time they faced Genoa, with both Stephane Omeonga and Adel Taarabt seeing red.
Neither player is expected to start this weekend. Omeonga is yet to hold down a regular spot in the team at 21 years old, but Taarabt is recovering from a back injury. Genoa are not a team blessed with abundant options up front – nobody on the team has scored more than three goals this season – so the Moroccan’s absence will be felt.
What they lack up front, however, they make up for at the back. Genoa have conceded the fewest goals of any Serie A team outside of the top four. Against an Inter side that is sweating on the availability of both Mauro Icardi and Ivan Perisic, we ought not to expect a high-scoring affair.
Eder has, to his credit, stepped up in Argentine Icardi's absence, finding the net in each of his last two games. But Inter have not taken so much as a point away to Genoa since 2013, and will face a familiar face on Saturday if, as expected, Goran Pandev starts up front for the Rossoblu. The Macedonian already scored against another of his former clubs, Lazio, at the start of this month.
Paolo's Tips
- Genoa 1, Inter 0 (8-1, Unibet)
- Pandev to score first (15-2, Unibet)
- Under 2.5 goals (61-100, Unibet)
